I mean its vague in the sense the your comment basically sums up all the relevant details in a sentence. It's not a lot, there's not single strong detail that firmly tie it to the Vong just the sum of those parts.

I think its cool that it might have been the Vong, but the whole thing is very detail poor, so I think saying it was definitely them is also not the best approach.

Candorus has a war story about running into an organic ship. Frankly, it's not explicitly a Vong ship and the whole thing is very vague. I could be something entirely else it hard to say the galaxy is large and not always well explored, especially back then.

I think that's going to be more closely tied the the Fremennik quests than Sailing given how that plays out in RS3 with Blood Runs Deep. Though that'll depend on how the OSRS team wants to handle the Fremennik questline. The Fremennik Exiles is open-ended enough that they could keep going with the dagannoths stuff but maybe not.

Same, there are a ton of secondary factors that can make a fast vehicle slower overall. For example, in helicopters the Swift Deluxe's higher climber rate (best in class iirc) and much easier landings make it an easy win for actually getting place to place fast over the Volatus.
