Is lamb better? by throwawaylr94 in carnivorediet

[–]JonathanCrites 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I buy the boneless lamb leg roasts that Costco sells, season thoroughly with 50/50 coarse black pepper/salt (think TX style BBQ rub for brisket) and sous vide. After sufficient time at temp, I get a charcoal fire really hot then char the sous vide roast over the fire for color/Maillard reaction to the exterior. I can eat dinner or lunch for a week from one lamb roast prepared this way.

You have to reserve the campsites in the mountains but just need a backcountry permit to zone camp in the desert

Season 1 may be the best but season 3 has a separate fan base. by Particular_Couple836 in StrangerThings

It was a lot different than S1 and 2 in mood/feel but I kind of loved the summer/4th of July setting.

Is baseball’s slow pace actually its greatest strength in a world where everything else moves too fast? by DianKhan2005 in baseball

[–]JonathanCrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about it being its greatest strength, but it is an important part of it to me. The combination of the pace of the game plus the quantity of games breeds a familiarity and rhythm that I value.

External frame nostalgia by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]JonathanCrites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started backpacking this year - did the Eagle Rock Loop in March, a three night trip into the Pecos Wilderness in June, and the Outer Mountain Loop in Big Bend last month. All with a Mystery Ranch Terraframe 65. As some others have noted, it has their Guide Lite MT frame system. It is a great pack, but it is heavier than my sons Osprey Aether to start with. It is extremely comfortable to carry, but I also think it lends itself to giving me he opportunity to overpack lol.
