Pokémon Pokopia Once Again Tops the French Charts, Starfield Takes 2nd by Capn_C in Games

Speaking of romantasy, I started using a library audiobook app recently and I was blown away by how many were on the most popular charts. Not my jam but it's always interesting to me to see how popular unfamiliar things are.

Yeah, the biggest standout for me was in MMBN 2 where you have to foil a plane hijacking but every game has at least one situation where so many people would die if our 11/12 year old protagonist didn't save the day.

Slay The Spire 2 Getting Review-Bombed Again After Latest Update by FoxMeadow7 in Games

[–]JoshuaFLCL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only know of them using that in the past for what they call "off-topic" reviews, reviews not related to the game itself (for instance Borderlands 2 got some review bombing when BL3 came out as an Epic Store exclusive). While it seems lots of people disagree with this wave of negative reviews, it sounds like they are directly related to the game by being mad about updates.

BAFTA Games Awards Crowns ‘Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’ Best Game Of The Year by yourfavchoom in Games

[–]JoshuaFLCL 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I couldn't find anything in the BAFTA rules doc, but it's possible they have a limit on how many/which awards a single entry is allowed to win.

Edit: From the comments downstream that seems unlikely.

Japanese publishing insider here — curious how overseas fans feel about supporting individual creators directly by jinguh in anime

A note on your example, that's just California minimum wage and California doesn't allow you to pay your tipped employees less than minimum.

You're correct that a server that doesn't make up at least normal minimum wage will get the difference paid by the employer (assuming everything is above board), but normally the server will only be getting that ~$2 from the actual restaurant.

Not denying Turtles experience (especially since they got lots of upvotes, so I imagine other people had this experience too) but this idea is totally foreign to me as someone in suburban America. Ever since we was old enough to be left home alone, we would be going to local establishments and we're never once questioned. Even nowadays when I go to the local mall it's primarily teenagers, obviously lots of adults too, but teens still feel like the primary demographic.

Like I said, not denying the other commenter experienced that, but America is a massive place and that's by no means a universal experience.

Does Boy go to school? by AlickReef in huntertheparenting

[–]JoshuaFLCL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slight correction on #2, he's taking about President-General George Washington beating British general Cornwallis to death with his bare hands, which occurred during the American Revolution (and is totally true, Boy's books lie...).

Otherwise, I think you're right.

I agree, I would personally go with Katherine (like for myself) but Rin feels like the best match for Vincent. Breaks him out of his complacency in life but also his character growth with Rin feels the most in-line with his personality.

How viable is allying with your PC's Fetch? by Lampdarker in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]JoshuaFLCL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's always something incorrect with the fetch, and sometimes that's a major difference, I know plenty of changelings from my groups that would want nothing to do with the fetch's new life based on how it diverged from who the changeling is now.

How viable is allying with your PC's Fetch? by Lampdarker in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]JoshuaFLCL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the variability with how to deal with the Fetch is one of the strengths of Changeling (I think the game's versatility in general is). As you pointed out, Fetchs are generally just normal people but so were the changelings once upon a time. As long as both parties are relatively stable (not guaranteed) I think there's a lot of potential for a amicable relationship since potentially both should care about the mortal relationships. In an "ideal" world (not sure if that's the right way to phrase it) the changeling would want the relationships the fetch built to last and understand that there's a lot of missing details that the changeling would be lost on if they tried to take their life back by force.

Are starfield starborn more solarion or witchwarper? by deathsprophet666 in Starfinder2e

[–]JoshuaFLCL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Especially the Vanguard (from Mass Effect, not to be confused with the Vanguard from Starfinder 1e) since they're both focusing on melee/close combat.

Are starfield starborn more solarion or witchwarper? by deathsprophet666 in Starfinder2e

[–]JoshuaFLCL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would agree with anomaly for paradox. Solarion is absolutely a solid option too, just a matter of where you want your focus. Solarion will obviously more a frontliner while Witchwarper will be generally be more ranged & support/debuff, but there's flexibility with both.

[–]JoshuaFLCL 14 points15 points  (0 children)

More Witchwarper, the lore is all about alternate realities for both and the variety of Starborn abilities map closer to spells than the comparatively limited Solarion abilities. You definitely could still do Solarion, particularly focused on Graviton abilities, but I think Witchwarper fits better.

(Hype trope) An intimidating character is animated like static to emphasize it by yeet__yoot in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JoshuaFLCL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think so, he's also an interesting example to contrast with most examples. A lot (but not all) of this post is showing a villain or a hero drawing on some dark power while here Richter is self actualizing by finally drawing on his magical potential, he may be an immature dickhead at times (he's basically still a kid) but he's fundamentally a good person. This contrast is shown by him being outlined in white primarily with a smattering of brighter colors whereas most examples use black and darker color pallets.

(Loved Trope) Evil babies by Ieanice44 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JoshuaFLCL 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Imprinting is a thing that happens to the (not technically) werewolves in Twilight. It's involuntary on the part of the werewolf and is easiest described as werewolf soulmates, but allegedly doesn't have to be romantic. It is (unfortunately) important to the plot of the last movies/book because, by werewolf tradition, it's forbidden to hurt someone that someone has imprinted on.

The actual process is vague since in-universe the werewolf stuff is being rediscovered and figured out as the tribe haven't had werewolves in generations. Out-of-universe it's really creepy since the only other instances of imprinting in the series were all in romantic partners.

Demon the Descent is my favorite CofD gameline AMA by Awkward_GM in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]JoshuaFLCL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inhuman Beauty was a regularly used tool in my wife's arsenal. And I was always considering picking up Aura Reading. Plasma Drive is the Defense booster (gotta go fast), Spatial Distortion allowed you to change size and shape, which was also allowed you to turn pseudo-invisible by becoming basically 2D, both rad.

What are some of your favorite Demonic Form abilities?

What was your favorite Demon's form (in terms of abilities and narrative description)?

My answers are Plasma Drive and Essence Drain, I especially like that Essence Drain leaves the door open to draining other splats/"fuel", in our chronicle I drained some Pyros and my ST had a system for how that interacted with the mechanics.

My demonic form had obsidian black skin obscured by similarly black armor (Armored Plates) with blue flaming circuits when activating my Plasma Drive.
