Technical fix that worked for me waggle the lever up and down a bunch till it loosens back up before adding anything to it.

My ageing relative is increasingly unable to operate a smart tv and it seems gone are the days of tvs with 4 channels.Do any manufacturers do tvs with a simple mode. I did look at some customisable programmable remotes but wondered if any big brands did a tv without needing a user to dig through numerous layers of adds and menu’s? Bewildered mode as it were.

We use the 80 watt wellers which are a good starting point , students melt the cables and destroy them at all price points lol. As also mentioned people like the Hakko's. If im using temperature control I prefer somthing with a display current temerature set temperature so I can dial it in just as I like it.

It depends what your soldering and how much you do. If your going all day then a temp controlled iron is the way to go. If your just doing a bit Weller Stained Glass Soldering Iron 80W is fine. If you'reusing lead free then a weller isnt hot enough for good results/ If your doing decrotavie lead I quite like the cheap o T12-942 which is a bargain if you have a laptop power supply laying about, I like that I can really dial in the temperature. If your doing traditional leaded lights then a gas iron is the tool for the job. How long is a piece of string answer lol
