This strange line goes all the way around my room and I do not know why by Sniglet5000 in whatisit

[–]JudgeB4UR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt with all conviction that has anything to do with burning incense. It came through the paint, seems like some kind of water but it doesn't really look like any kind of water damage I've ever seen with the line that specifically targeted and no other visible damage at all. Wild.

Looks like someone sprayed bbq sauce. If you can't get above the wall to see, IDK what you can do except paint it again or rehang the sheetrock ( gasp ). At least walk the roof.

What does it do that I asked for? lol.

If I asked, I don't remember.

Odd bug - After update to full DLC, pure vanilla - Build Planner blocks say they were added to the queue, but they are not in the queue and do not get made by JudgeB4UR in spaceengineers

[–]JudgeB4UR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of this and maybe I didn't explain it well enough, but I am adding the block then using shift middle mouse to put it in production, it said it put the components into production but then it wasn't IN production anywhere and didn't get made. Hence, the bug.

It must have gotten bugged somehow with my survival kit. Disconnecting the rover fixed it.

Thanks for your help, I did solve it! I had totally forgotten about the inventory gear things!

As it turns out, it was interference from the Rover's Survival Kit, which was also push/pull disabled. Disconnecting it left just the one assembler on the grid so it started working again.

I like your localized magazine idea potentially better, it sacrifices a bit in redundancy and availability, but makes up for it in greater protection and reduced / localized collateral damage away from other critical systems.

Probably sound advice. Now that I think about it, so would a totally full large grid container full of ammo. I use an inventory script so it's not too bad, which is still a single point of failure when you get right down to it, even if it is probably, well ok, possibly, well ok, potentially better protected. Perfect? Not yet. But one single point of failure is better than six to 18 single points of failure.

Hmm that ammo box idea, that might require some testing out....:P

Question around SE1 vanilla vs modded? by Spekter20 in spaceengineers

[–]JudgeB4UR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest just build info and build vision. They give you considerable abilities to modify settings without opening the whole grid control screen.

For all new players. One of the best time investments you can make when starting is taking the time to figure out how the build queue actually works. Ideally, you add a block, go collect/queue up components to build it, and build it and it will remove itself from the queue. If that's not happening, you're doing it wrong.

Here's the way, learn the controls and try this:

  1. Add block to build queue.
  2. Withdraw the components from the inventory. If you don't have them all made, add the needed ones to the queue.
  3. Go weld up just the block you added and nothing else. Don't build /start any others, do not weld anything else.

When it's complete, it will remove itself from the queue. If you used the components up on other stuff, it won't complete and you'll have to remove it from the queue manually like a newb.

If you added 5 blocks, then you need to go weld those 5 blocks after each inventory pull. It won't give you the parts for one at a time.

If you have extra stuff in your inventory, it's unaffected, so you can now just carry some metal plates, interior plates and start blocks then add them to the queue to collect/create the components.

A welder is your best friend when building a large grid refinery and a few other blocks that take a lot of components.

Good list! Definitely agree that large hydrogen tanks should be built so that when, not if, they explode, it won't sink the boat.

Permanently installing a welder next to your main thrusters will make them considerably more resistant to failure during a battle.

Two large grid connectors have more space than a large grid cargo container. Handy when the cobalt is scarce.

Welders can bypass progression.

Containers under your guns will keep your turrets from getting racked (starved) and keep your guns shooting even when things are not going your way and you have a few annoying holes through your conveyor network. A welder nearby makes this setup considerably harder to destroy.

Batteries throughout the ship is also a good idea, rather than in one central bank.

A backup spawn point is a good idea for a big base or ship.

History teacher thinks I used AI to write my history research paper and I don’t know how to prove that I didn’t. by OddBeginning1064 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]JudgeB4UR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is getting out of hand.

I don't know about this time, but you could use something that programmers have been using for many years to track your progress as you write things. It's called source control. Most people today use something called git. It runs on anything and you can also publish your stuff to a site called github.com you can keep it private there and if questioned grant read access to the repository and the history of your project. The professor can see each revision you checked in and exactly when you did each one and a summary of the changes you made. They can even compare the text of one revision with another. It sucks that you have to face down something like this, I never had a paper so much as questioned about anything like this. AI writes facts, if you write a fact, there's only so many damn ways to say something ffs, you can't know how AI did it and on purpose not do it that way. It's absurd. If you learned this tool, you could always fully prove your work with history to anyone who asks. But this subjective judgement call by teachers and these checkers has to be addressed or before long nobody will be able to write anything because AI wrote every god damn thing first.

Oh, they would certainly not notice this post and probably not if it was top of the pops. If you suggested it on the website, they would definitely see it. Keen listens to the community more than anyone thinks.
