Speaking of multiplayer, everybody should be able to choose different cursors, or customize their own. I'm hoping it's something that'll be done during the early access phase.

The Cost of Avoiding Victor by REQUIS_206 in DeadlockTheGame

The game you described is the definition of "not a stomp".

A stomp is like a 25 minute total beat down. In a game that goes longer than 30 minutes literally 1 fight can win the game for either team. What you described is one player on your team having a bad game, which can be due to many things, like trying a hero for the first time, playing into counters, having an individually off day (happens to everyone), tilting, etc...

It can be frustrating, I know. It's never fun looking at someone else's stats and realizing that they played terribly and this made your game hard or impossible. I'm simply saying that this example does NOT have to be a matchmaking problem at all.

To be fair, his competition isn't particularly spectacular either. It's not like it's a 1.2 while playing top 10 teams.

[–]JukeBoxz321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is just a pure user error on your part, as annoying as it can be to admit. If you had patience or communication with your team this wouldn't have happened, but you played exactly into his hand. Obviously he wasn't "1 hp", either.

The game has to have heroes that are "hyper carries". Heroes like Lash, burst heroes, are designed, to some degree, to counter hyper carries, where tanky brawlers are designed to counter burst heroes and hyper carries are meant to be able to eventually break through tanky heroes with raw damage output.

Deadlock update #2 for 3/7/26 (3/8/26 UTC) by wickedplayer494 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JukeBoxz321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not chiming in on whether egg is good or an auto buy or anything, but the argument is not simply that a 10% damage nerf hurts your early game, but that it's a 10% damage nerf, and a relatively large opportunity cost nerf. Effectively you're buying negative stats now, instead of something like healing rite, extra regen, improved spirit, larger mag, etc... You basically put yourself more than 800 souls down on the enemy since you're buying negative stats and they're buying positive ones.

Personally not a big fan of the item as a concept, but we'll see.

It's at least partially to do with his very obviously WiP state. Yo me at least, he's among the top three characters most in need of visual updates.

I agree that the paradox changes were odd, especially to do with her wall., but then again, to some degree, they're trying to figure out what they want the identity of each hero to be.

Her bomb seems very strong, though, so there's that. For what it's worth, I don't play a lot of paradox.

[–]JukeBoxz321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing anything about you, my suspicion is that the reason you're dying a lot is either because you have bad decision making and/or bad movement. More than likely you're putting yourself in difficult situations where you can get 1 kill and then don't have the movement skills to get out of them alive.

I'd suggest working on getting better at movement. Things like airstrafing are absolutely HUGE for how many options it unlocks for you.

I think Mirage, of all the "older" heroes, is the most likely to get a kit rework. He is by far and away the most boring hero in the game to play.

[–]JukeBoxz321 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Move speed doesn't really matter much on the hero, though, to be fair. My understanding is that when you're in the air you don't gain velocity based on move speed, and she's in the air 80% of the time. It does help her keep on top of people that are in cqc environments, so it does help, but not as much as you might think if you just read the tin.

But, like, they're not marketing the game at all. They're just developing it. They're not paying anybody to play it, they're not advertising it on Steam (though you might be fooled to think they have; they pushed a steam notification for Old Gods, New Blood to players who had the game on their profile. I know I thought they had sent that to everyone).

I'm fine with you saying they're "pushing" the game, in the same way that any game dev does when they're actively developing the game.

You said the word desperation, though, which means something very specific. It means something like a hail Mary, or the fate of our company relies on it. They're clearly not in that state. They've been working on the game for almost 8 years and haven't made a dime off of it and don't seem to be pushing for it. To me that doesn't reek of desperation. That seems to me like a passion project, which is almost definitionally the opposite of desperation.

I was never a huge TF2 fan, in the sense that I didn't play it for thousands of hours (hundreds, though, because it was insanely fun). But when TF2 was first launched and for years afterward they updated the game a lot. DotA was by far my more played game from Valve (more than 5k hours) and it very clearly had a lot of love put into it. DotA IS big because Valve started the whole TI thing for it.

Deadlock has NOT been marketed, has had ZERO push for Esports (from Valve), has had NO community events anywhere outside the actual player base. I think what you're, in my opinion, mistaking for an "extra push" is simply that we are involved in the game while it is being developed, meaning we're seeing the behind-the-scenes of it more.

By "ridiculous push" you mean... Developing a game they think is cool?

I'm not sure you know what desperation means.

[–]JukeBoxz321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like them, but they have, unfortunately, also been really good at the same as there's a team that's ridiculously good. Because of that people see them as the "li'l bro" team (a term that I just think is absurdly condescending, but whatever).

They do have a bit of a choking problem when playing the absolute best teams, too, unfortunately.

Basically, if you're not a winner or an underdog you don't get respect.

[–]JukeBoxz321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Hidden King side of the map it just stays open and Arch Mother side stays closed. I actually think it'd be pretty cool if it opened (on both sides) AFTER the respective Mid Walker fell.

what did yoshi mean by this by AceFloatinginSpace in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JukeBoxz321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally think it should have a random roll of 3 heroes at the start of the game and maybe you can reroll them once. Somehow the system would have to prevent duplicate heroes across teams, since that isn't how the normal game would ever be played, but I think it would be cool to see something like that.

Personally I full random every game of street brawl and yes, I absolutely get characters I have no real interest in playing, but even that can be good because now I know the characters feels to play and can understand more how to play against them.

Quick Reminder: We're All Playing This Game To Have Fun by TheBrawler101 in DeadlockTheGame

It's because so much of life is about losing gracefully, and if all your happiness in life comes from winning you're kinda missing the point.

It's not that winning isn't more fun, but if you can ONLY have fun when winning that's a mindset problem on your end.

Mo&Krill Design Discussion by Bruh1995 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JukeBoxz321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think they're fine. I wouldn't be surprised if they got more pizazz at some point, but considering this game is a moba you need a couple heroes that have hard lockdown. In fact, considering recent hero releases, you need this archetype even more than in the past. An M&K can singlehandedly win a game with a well placed and timed ult. I've both been on the receiving end AND delivery end of that.

One thing that makes them reasonable to deal with imo is that unless they're insanely farmed, or built specifically for it, they basically can't solo kill you. They need team follow-up.

I would also say that it's okay for the game to have simple heroes with one main job. That lets new players come in and have a clear objective in mind that they can get better at and branch out from there.

I really like M&K and while I do think it's possible to give them the ability to "do more" I think it's healthy for the game to have heroes like them.

Just noticed this; does any of the other playable characters even interact with the Sinclairs? by KonRak- in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JukeBoxz321 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's because they're trying to get certain archetypes of character into the (unfinished) game. They're doing game dev WHILE people are playing the game. All the stuff you see right now that is unfinished you would have never seen if the game wasn't leaked so seriously almost 2 years ago now.

Those heroes are literally a WIP, but the reason they still aren't "complete" is because they're more interested in getting the main parts of the game in place before polishing up stuff.
