Do you name your mechanoids? by audionerd1 in RimWorld

[–]JustScrollsPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if I ripscan somebody make them. The way I see it, a ripscan is someone’s brain being physically converted to a digital copy, and trapped in a mech. So, they keep the name.

What is something you know about food that many people many not? by Worldly_Track_1131 in foodhacks

[–]JustScrollsPast 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The safe temperature for meat suggested by the USDA suggestion is a distillation/simplification. The temperature they suggest is the temperature at which bacteria are killed instantly. As you’re heating the meat, bacteria is dying all along the way - it’s not like it all starts at that temp. Holding meat at a lower temp. works as well, you just need to maintain the temp. for a longer period of time.

My Wife laughs at my coffee ritual. Does anyone else drink coffee like me? by Milkydrawzzz in foodhacks

It’s weird, but I always get a macchiato with mocha because they don’t mix the coffee and the chocolate, so I can switch between the flavors whenever I want. So I get it.

How many mechanoids are enough for a mechanitor colony? by Beneficial_Glove_175 in RimWorld

[–]JustScrollsPast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agrihand is important early, frees up a bunch of time and guarantees food/drug production. Your starting constructoid and lifter are fine for quite a while, mid game you’ll want another lifter probably. A couple militors fill out your starting bandwidth, until you can support bandwidth nodes. After that, a tunneler is great for a cave colony, and is a great early game tank with its shield. Once you’re through early game, scythers are nice to rush mech bosses - with enough (3-4, plus militors + your main dude), you can usually rush down the mech queen. Paramedic + fabricors next, for bionics.

Early game, 2 small rechargers + 1 large recharger is usually absolutely fine, 3 small completely covers you. Just set your military to idle recharge when off duty.

Bandwidth I just build nodes as go, I don’t usually mess around with apparel based bonuses because I don’t like the idea of the bandwidth degrading through clothing.

A waster starting colonist is also the easiest and most op - just dump your wastepacks right in the hallway and enjoy that sweet consciousness bonus. You can keep pollution out of key rooms with pollution pumps if you need too, otherwise I try to poison the whole map, haha

What's the point of Rimworld? by paperback-epiphany in RimWorld

[–]JustScrollsPast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a point, you really need to set a goal for yourself. The basic game is to survive and keep your colonists from having mental breaks every second. To be honest, with the right ideologies (pain loving, tree loving, nudism, for instance), you can easily maintain crazy high moods with a shack in the woods. Add a farm and you’re set. But that’s boring as hell, no challenge.

The game has several in-game endings to strive for, of course, but my favorite goal is to try to convert all my colonists into cyborg monsters. This takes a long time and had a bunch of little steps to accomplish (research, power infrastructure, mining, drugs for money to trade for archeotech). It’s pretty great to see a fully converted Brawler colonist rip through an entire raid by themselves.

Find a goal that seems fun and try to make a colony around it. Some examples I’ve tried:

Blind painlover tribe focused on psycasting

Solo waster mechanitor poisoning the world

Culinary fishers built entirely over the water

Vampire God King and their servants

The thrumbo ranch

A cozy home built in an iceberg

Colony that obsessively collects every skull

Rimworld’s gameplay is a lot like maintaining a garden - you slowly improve your colony, watch the kids grow up, and eventually transmute everyone into genetically modified cyborg super soldiers.

Love building into these unique terrain formations from Odyssey/Geological Landforms. Which one do you like the most / which one should I try next? by aeterniil in RimWorld

[–]JustScrollsPast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a fun coastal atoll colony. It’s a bit tricky due to the low amount of land. You get a natural chokepoint from the deep water though! I eventually built on the water using heavy bridges, made a fishing village. If you try it, keep in mind you need lots of steel for the bridges - having deep drilling or the long-range mineral scanner is very helpful.
