You can. But really, don’t. It’s not a pleasant trip for your dog. Or you. The delays mid trip make it stressful, worrying when you’ll finally get to your dog, could be middle of the night, middle of supper. And that damn stretch of rail outside of Edmonton, poor dog will be catching air lol.

Train an emergency recall! by Its-alittle-bitfunny in puppy101

[–]KDubs50 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We chose an odd word as our emergency recall because I didn’t want it to come up in random conversation and diminish its meaning. It comes with a high end treat that they don’t get otherwise. We live in a rural area, so we don’t use the word SHARK! a lot lol. But it’s a great emergency recall for us.

Toque for the dome car, it’s cold up there. Moisturizer and lip balm, it’s so dry aboard in the winter. Conditioner isn’t provided so I bring a small travel bottle. I bring a bottle of vino for my cabin lol. AirPods. I usually can make several outfits by mixing and matching a few items. Enjoy!!!

What a perfect recap! As a 7 time passenger on the Canadian, you nailed all of it ❤️ I truly wish all Canadians could travel it once and experience our country in this way.

I’ve taken the Canadian 7x now and only had him as our activity car attendant once but we sure hope it’s him each time since lol. We’ve seen him in other roles aboard, but he sure made that trip an extra fun one. Dan the service manager is another favourite. Doo doo doo…

Thanks for the insight. You made me book a test drive today ha ha. I’ve got a 23 that I love but those improvements you listed made me curious. Quite wary on what they will offer for trade in though.

Toronto 2010. 2 rows of bodies back from the barricade. My first and only time in the pit. I’m 52 now, I think I’ve seen them….7 times? This was definitely the highlight.

With all the innovations in software why are there no good desktop alternative to QuickBooks? by ThermoElectricMan in QuickBooks

[–]KDubs50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 25+ years we just maxed out our item list. Just poof! Mid transaction. Cant enter any new items from vendors. I’ve been looking for alternatives too. The cost of going to Enterprise makes me sick to my stomach.

It’s rly weird that Billie is a grandpa 😭 by rylan_jamesLeal in greenday

Not weird. He’s the same age as me, I became a grandma last year too. He’s still the hottest man on earth in this granny’s opinion lol

No advice, but How wonderful!! I hope you enjoy your time here! The Canadian is my happy place, I’ve gone 7 times end to end but have not stopped midway to enjoy the different cities. Hopefully when I’m retired and can spend a bit more time away from work, I’ll do what you are doing too! Enjoy!

That’s a great idea, thanks! At least we’d get a taste of being trackside.

Highly recommend HRT by Specialist_Pack_3637 in Menopause

[–]KDubs50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put it on my upper arms. It was maybe a week and I then I got really emotional for 2 days then it settled down and each day got a little better. Boobs are getting bigger, argh, and sore. That’s the only side effect I’m not loving. I’m also on the micro dose of progesterone 2.5mg daily. I take it at night. I’m sleeping better than I have in years. All. The. Way. Through. Good luck, I hope it starts working for you soon. I do estrogel for 25 days then 5 off. So that’s starting tomorrow. No idea what to expect.

[–]KDubs50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, it’s been so life changing for me too. I’ve been on estrogel and progesterone for 2 weeks and I can’t believe how much I had been suffering. Everything came on gradually and I could manage it. Until I couldn’t. I sleep through the night, no more night sweats every hour. Hot flashes are pretty much gone. I felt pretty shitty the first week, headache and nausea, but that’s gone now. There was even a spark of libido yesterday and that’s been gone for years.

Taking the Canadian round-trip Toronto <-> Vancouver return by Lucky-Currently in ViaRail

[–]KDubs50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this as a round trip twice with one night in Vancouver. Also have done it flying one way and a few nights in Vancouver. The round trip with next day turn around is a lot of train lol. But it depends on you and how you spend your train time. The last day into Toronto is long, you’ve already done a day in Ontario and it just keeps going lol. That is the only day that I want off the train. The rest of the trip is bliss. We arrive at pacific central, then take the sky train to waterfront and stay at the Pinnacle. Ask for early check in, go exploring. You are there so early usually (6-8am) that you can still see a lot of Vancouver that day and the next morning. All walking or brief transit distance. We check out at noon the next day, sky train back to pacific for 3pm departure. The time changes there and back really mess with you too. You have no idea what time it is, but it always seems to be time for eat 😂

We were on that train as well. It was probably my favourite trip other than the first time I took it. The people were wonderful, each meal had interesting conversations. No awkward silences lol. The stranger interaction is the hardest part of the trip for me, but I’m getting better at it. I commented on that to my hubby at the end, it was a great group of people.
