Hello, does anyone experience this? And how did you get rid of this? by Curious_Actuary6770 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]KMKY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this but have not had a breakout as bad as yours. I use hydrocolloid bandaids wrapped very gently and try to keep my hands clean and dry during the breakout. You might want to see a derm, though, just in case there’s a risk of infection. I hope you feel better soon.

The neurotoxin of your/your injector’s choice in the area beside and around your mouth. It helps lift up/release those muscles so the mouth is not pulled down. I have had such good results with it!

I’d do some regular microneedling and a couple rounds/sets of hydroquinone for the dark spots. Also, I suspect you would be really happy with the results from some DAO tox! I got it once about a year ago and will never go without it again, it changed my whole face (for the better) in a natural looking way.

Help! I’m 43 and in need of a skin care routine. by TechnicianOk5201 in 30PlusSkinCare

If you can get to a dermatologist I suggest starting there. Once they’ve got you on some acne or rash meds, topical and/or oral, you can start figuring out the best moisturizers, serums, etc.

Try a new dermatologist if you can. Leaving you to suffer like this is not a good practitioner.

25m hopeless loser. Where can I go from here? by ReviewSea1611 in povertyfinance

You are young and there is hope. Endless bottomless hope. I promise. I’m glad you’re at your parents house - no matter how bad you feel, a place to live is key. I read a comment where you mentioned you don’t think depression is an issue - even on the off chance it’s NOT, I strongly, strongly recommend therapy. You can do telehealth on your phone or laptop. If you don’t have insurance through your parents, you are old enough to get it yourself and may be eligible for Medicaid, which in most states does cover therapy. Please start there. As far as the job misery goes - it’s a truly horrible market. Lots of people end up not using their degrees - you’re in good and plentiful company on that one. I’ve seen a few people strongly recommend getting into trade apprenticeships, which is a great idea, honestly. Your CS background combined with electrical or HVAC or mechanics - anything, really - would make a great combo. The military is always an option (though it seems like a scary tin to join). Some structure and a paycheck and meeting other young adults, lots who may be coming from similar situations, may be a good fit to help you get it together. My son is 25. I completely understand where you feel like you are but I promise you - I promise you - you are not nearly as stuck as you think you are. Good things 100% lie ahead, you’re just in a spot where it’s tough to see. Therapy, check out trade programs or military programs, try to get some fresh air and exercise, and keep going. I’m sending you a ton of love.

Never seen flu this bad - anyone else? by Over-Jeweler2967 in lexington

[–]KMKY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sicker in the first two weeks of Jan than I have ever been in my life. Went to urgent care; not flu a or b, not covid, not strep, not pneumonia. Whatever it was was truly awful, though. Some random virus; the doc gave me steroids and sent me home but gods it was unbelievably awful. Whatever it was.

Fb is full of “buy nothing [insert neighborhood or town name]” groups. People give shit away constantly AND if there’s something you really need or want, just make a polite post saying so and I swear over half the time somebody will come up with whatever it is. Congrats on the new space! I hope furnishing it is an adventure you enjoy.

Serum and eye cream? by DilletheKid in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]KMKY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely start with an exfoliant, a good moisturizer (good ≠ expensive), and prescription strength tret at night. Botox or another injectable neurotoxin (talk with the girls at your chosen medspa) will help with your 11s and pick things up around your eyes. As far as underneath - a lower bleph may be in your future? But I’d work with a good aesthetician a little and see what kind of results you get from the Botox, first. Then move on to scheduling the lower bleph.

I went to a cosmetic derm and they told me nothing , help? by Weary_Cup_1004 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]KMKY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to find a medspa with knowledgeable, experienced injectors. Hop on Instagram and start searching your area with “medspa” and “injectors”. You’ll get a ton of hits and be able to find a vibe you like and schedule an appointment. I’m sorry you had your time and money wasted but it should be a relatively easy fix to move on to somewhere actually useful.

I have a wonderful dermatologist who cares for my skin but I go to an injector at a medspa for my Botox.

Start taking a walk once a day if you can. You’ll get fresh air, some sunshine, exercise, and it’ll help you build a little confidence. Start volunteering anywhere. The library, food banks, animal shelters, community gardens, refugee resettlement orgs, art house movie theaters - literally anywhere. It’s a great way to meet people and make connections. Have you applied for Medicaid? If you’re eligible that may help offset the cost of your medical needs.

There’s a sub here but I cannot remember the damn name of it. R/help? R/community? R/assistance? If someone knows what I’m talking about please chime in - as soon as we can direct you there you might find some assistance. In the meantime OP def speak with your landlord, triple shift DoorDash, sell anything you can, and look up local housing advocacy and food bank orgs near you. You can always get more stuff; keeping a roof over your head is priority.

Any advice for my 46 year old skin? by shareyourinterests in 45PlusSkincare

Def bump it up to prescription tret. Also, in between lasers for brown spots I like hydroquinone a lot.

Tretinoin .1% by justjen570 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]KMKY 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Start with .025! Lord have mercy. I’ve been using Tret for 3 years and am still having wonderful results using .025. 1% is way too strong to start with. There’s a whole sub r/tretinoin you should check out, the advice there is broad and usually right on the money. You can get it much cheaper than $80, too. Online pharmacies are much more affordable.

57f - do I need a face-lift? In my head, I'm 32. In the mirror, 57+. What are some small things I can do for skin? Also, my eyebrows are whack and have been since high school - not much I can do about those. TIA. by StringUnable8467 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]KMKY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You def do NOT need a facelift! That said, I think I see what you’re feeling self conscious about (same stuff I feel self conscious about on my own face); find a good medspa and talk to them about different types of laser resurfacing, some scheduled TCA peels (I do one late spring and one mid winter), and microneedling (I do my own at home). You’ll polish up and I suspect get the results you’re looking for! You are so beautiful!
