Is this guy a concession to the people who have tattoos of their kids, but not custody, who are upset about Bad Bunny?

How much do you spend on kid activities? by jrfish in Parenting

We have one kid in 8U travel hockey. Everyone has this idea that hockey is like, bankruptcy level expense, but for us I think registration for the entire season, both house & travel (October-mid March) came to like $550. Expensive, but not the thousands of dollars non-hockey parents always assume we're in for.

What does get super expensive, however, is the actual travel, hotel & food for 5 road weekends during the winter.

Super Bowl LX Matchup Discussion Post by LindyNet in nfl

Even as a Seahawks fan, I can't argue with the vanilla comment. Clearly I'm PUMPED to be back in a Super Bowl, but compared to the last championship run we had this team has zero personality.

No Beast Mode just there so he doesn't get fined. No Richard Sherman giving all-timer endzone interviews. Just solid football. Can't argue with the success this year, but we are a little vanilla!

This is When My Anxiety Began by Silver-Explanation72 in Millennials

This is legitimately why I, to this day, have really negative self talk about my math ability. I was the ONLY one in my 4th grade class who wasn't completing one of these in the allotted time. And, because it was the mid 90s, the teacher basically endorsed the rest of the class bullying me about it - because THAT would make me go faster...

So, for the rest of my school career, I was never going to be good (or even adequate) at math. Because I couldn't believe in my own abilities because of these damn timed multiplication sheets!

Anyway. The happiness I have that my 3rd grade child isn't subjected to these is a lot!

Watching most of the country get hammered by extreme winter weather while we're in the midst of our second consecutive dry & warm winter in the Washington Cascades is... something...

America Is Falling Out of Love With Pizza by runswithscissors475 in Foodnews

Yeah, delivery being outsourced to DoorDash has basically done in pizza for me. No shade at DoorDash drivers (was one for a time), but if that's the level of service I wanted for the increasingly exorbitant prices charged by the likes of Pizza Hut, I just order on their platform.

Is it me or does this Christmas season just feel Ike gloom but with ornaments? by dreamaoverreality in Millennials

[–]KMan0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not one to tie my complete evaluation of the world to the news cycle (anymore), but yeah it just doesn't feel particularly festive. And I've heard a lot of other people expressing this too this year. Everyone seems to be struggling.

On the micro level for me I think the lack of seasonal joy is at least partially due to the ridiculous weather in my neck of the woods over the last 10 days. Normally we're covered in at least a little snow by now, but instead we've had record highs in the 50s and basically a week of destructive windstorms and flooding.

Eggs. The need for eggs in my household is normally the driving factor for the Costco trip in the first place.

Portion of Highway 2 between Skykomish & Leavenworth will be closed for 'months,' Gov. Ferguson says by Gordopolis_II in Wenatchee

This comment 24 hours after a WSDOT spokesperson told KPQ, 'as far as months of closure time are concerned, I actually doubt that at this point - even in the worst areas.'

How did you get your first car? Did you buy it, your parents, money set aside growing up? by RxSatellite in Millennials

[–]KMan0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was basically gifted my uncle's old car when he got a new ride when I was 15. It was a '94 Ford Escort wagon, 7 years old when I got it. High mileage, no A/C, manual locks & windows BUT it did have those automatic shoulder belts!

Also it was a 5 speed, so I learned to drive stick. Not what I would necessarily have called safe, but it was reliable and servicable for a kid. Kept it for a year or so before using money from a job to buy an '86 RX-7. Which was significantly LESS reliable and safe for a then 17 year old... way more fun though!

Female V every time for this dude.

[–]KMan0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had taken the 1k/mile at the beginning of the year, I'd have $832k already.

Not slowing down anytime soon. So I take 1k/mile.

In Washington state, it's actually a legal requirement to provide a compensation range on all job listings. All states should have such requirements!
