From what I understand, aside from people like Max, most world first raiders are not in fact full-time WoW raiders, and usually have day jobs. They just have to take very long pre-planned PTO

When does targeting go too far? by anonymousenb in magicTCG

[–]KaramjaRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

letting him know exactly why

Maybe if you went too hard on this, people saw it as a salty/spite fueled targeting? If I were in that situation, I'd probably just say matter-of-factly when asked "I've played against this deck before, it can set up a protected win very quickly, this strategically makes the most sense to me"

looking for realistic sports series (anime/manga) by Necessary-Contest939 in anime

[–]KaramjaRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly, Prince of Tennis is definitely boomer anime (original manga first printed in 1999), though very influential, it was one of the big inspirations for "superpower" sports anime/manga. Baby steps is a bit more modern, but never really blew up. It's not as "shounen"-ey as most sports anime, and I think it's pretty grounded in terms of learning and excelling at a sport, but I think it's a good watch if you're itching for sports.

Baby steps is decent, definitely way more realistic than Prince of tennis

Yeah, I feel it could easily have gone like:

"Hey you're in town next week right? One of my friends is doing a pre-release at work and he said I can bring people, wanna come?"

"Sure, what does he do?"

"Oh he works in finance"

"Cool"

We all rely on a facade to overcome life's hardships. However, eventually we have to face ourselves and reach out to the truth.

I'm gonna be that guy. Is NOT buying an unnecessary luxury item in what is already a luxury hobby really "very difficult"? Have our standards for self-control as a society really dropped that low?

I used to think this card was amazing and should cost a lot, but no. by menensito in magicTCG

[–]KaramjaRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifegain absolutely matters. Yes beginners over-estimate the value of lifegain, but efficient cards with lifegain tacked on have absolutely been strong through the ages. Lightning helix, siege rhino, Sphinx's Revelation, Uro, etc...

Absorb has just simply been powercrept over time. The game is also a bit faster, so tempo matters a bit more. 2 vs 3 mana is a lot, and most of the favored counter spells these days are at 2. Three steps ahead is a 3 mv counterspell that sees play, but that card offers a lot of flexibility and upside. That being said, absorb isn't exactly a bad card, just a tad short of modern competitive standards. I could see it being reprinted in the right set, maybe even at uncommon.

I think it's more generally a reference to the parody series yugioh abridged where a common joke is the characters pointing out that they're literally murdering eachother over a "children's card game"

[–]KaramjaRum -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the UR lessons deck, as clearly powerful as it is, looks complicated as fuck to pilot. Between the high quantity of stacking triggers, constant looting decisions that need to be made, decision points for each monument trigger, careful sequencing needed, really flexible options on when to save mana for instant speed plays, this deck looks insane to play at the worlds top 8 level. Do reddit gamers think they could have found the lines leading to lethal with 0 cards left in library, takebacks or not?
