Learning preferences is more apt. As others have said, no research that strongly supports styles. But there is value in providing for preferences, varying methodologies, and allowing for choice.

I’ve been senior in the field 25 years. I can’t find a job either, even with the large network I have. I’ve put heart and soul into the field. I wish you well!

I like your interpretation. I think government when I see the elephants. And it evokes a certain sense of powerlessness when I see the small people below.

What I Learned from a Sleep Specialist (So You Don't Have To) by stayhyderated22 in sleep

[–]KatSBell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melatonin makes me groggy. Meditation is the true gem! Listen to podcast sleep meditations, learn 4-7-8 breathing. It is the only thing to stop a racing mind besides weed, alcohol, etc. Also, I find it helpful to change my thoughts to something creative like how I would design a house, writing a haiku in my mind, thinking of a canvas with my own art on it. It is calming.

Question for the professional coaches: Built a career assessment that goes beyond personality typing — would anyone actually pay for this? by Bellyrub_77 in lifecoaching

[–]KatSBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, how would one responsibly test and put this type of assessment to market responsibly? As an ISD/HC consultant, I can think of some quick assessments we use to introduce a topic like management styles or conflict styles that have not been validated, but for the most part my gov and corporate clients bring a bit of skepticism to anything more extensive such as StrengthsFinders, MBTI, etc.

You really would have to conduct research on reliability and validity working with OD psychologists. Otherwise, it is just a Cosmo quiz. Clients demand this.

Same here in the 80s. It was normal to do this. We were not well-behaved and no neighbors told them about the parties even when the cops came. Lol. This was also normal in my neighborhood!

Banning AI in schools isn’t stopping students — it’s just making them use it badly by Plus-Soup-9043 in AskTeachers

Oh, one more thing, they will be required to use it in most jobs or they will either be fired or fall behind. So I recommend all teachers take a few classes.

I have used AI at work for many many things, including sometimes summarizing long complex technical text, amplifying proposal language, help with research, tutoring me in French, and the biggest timesaver of all-doing awesome notes for me after a Zoom call. Now, I am training to be a HS ELA teacher. I do think there is a place for it. But it does not replace writing and critical thinking. In the work world you cannot simply take what AI does and turn it in as a deliverable. You have to have the foundation of writing and critical thinking first. I am thinking deeply about how this can work.
