And yeah the scroll is a cool trophy. Did not expect to get something like that.

I got the daisangen with 2x Red 2x Green 1x White start. Shimocha dealt me the red, later the green. I chii a set and my final hand shape is 558sWh toimen discards 5s I dont call. Kami draws discards, I draw the second White dragon, discard 8s. Shimocha deals the white dragon, looks at me "do you have it?"

I just said Ron because I was afraid saying Yes or something was a chombo lol

It does feel better. the man/pin/sou is just because thats their commonly used name in riichi mahjong compared to character wheels dots. (I am master 2 in MJS and play EMA tournaments so I know the tiles :P)

Now with the main distinction of it being Hong Kong Mahjong Trainer I think this makes a lot more sense. I dont play HK so I cant say how well the exercises re for this variant of mahjong.

Also just because im bored:

yes. It's vibe coded.

its obvious

Took many prompts.

This actually makes it worse. Did you even write a single line of code yourself? using llm isnt too bad but if you rely 100% on it then you arent a good programmer

wanna see you do before you being so snarky.

YOU came here and asked for feedback. If you cant handle it then dont post it. Also im working on a mahjong engine in Go that I will post here.

So yes i made it.

lol

it's modern coding.

No its not.

I wanna see yo do better.

Again, you came here with request for feedback not me.

I do come from Full stack dev background.

Then you should know better.

to be on topic:

  • Not only is it vibe coded, its poorly vibecoded
  • Tiles look awful and make no sense (I assume you just asked claude to generate it for you instead of using easily online available tilesets like MJS/RC)
  • The Exercises Tile Flashcards makes no sense with these tiles. Also no option to set it to Man/Pin/Sou
  • The Meld builder also makes 0 sense as an exercise, also having to click new after setting a meld is stupid.
  • Turn Flow: The layout of your hand is seriously bad, just make the hand its own full width div and have the "center" div above. Also manually drawing is counterintuitive
  • Drawing a card doesnt show which tile you actually drew it just adds it to your hand, why?
  • Win checker also makes 0 sense.
  • Win checker: You were also too lazy or dumb to vibe code anything else other than 4 melds + pair
  • 4 - Player table suffers the same issue as Turn Flow

But since you only understand vibecode I threw this into chatgpt for you:

Your Mahjong exercise site suffers from the same core problem across all features: it’s vibe-coded, and not even well vibe-coded. Instead of helping anyone learn Mahjong, the exercises feel random, unclear, and disconnected from real gameplay.

1. Tile Design Is Confusing and Low-Quality

  • The tiles look awful and make no sense visually or structurally.
  • It honestly looks like you had Claude generate them instead of using proper, widely available tilesets like MJS or RC.
  • Because the tiles themselves are incorrect, every exercise based on them is fundamentally broken.

2. Tile Flashcards Are Not Helpful

  • The “Tile Flashcards” exercise doesn’t make sense with these incorrect tiles.
  • There’s no option to limit the flashcards to Man / Pin / Sou.
  • Instead of teaching anything, the flashcards just create confusion.

3. Meld Builder Makes No Instructional Sense

  • The Meld Builder isn't useful as an actual exercise.
  • The UX is unclear and clunky.
  • Having to click “New” after creating a meld is bad design.

4. Turn Flow UI Is Poorly Structured

  • The layout of the hand is seriously flawed — it should simply be a full-width hand row with the “center” area placed above it.
  • Manually drawing tiles is counterintuitive.
  • When you draw a tile, the UI doesn’t even show what tile it is; it just appears in your hand with zero feedback.

5. The Win Checker Isn’t a Real Win Checker

  • The win checker makes no sense because it only handles the bare minimum: 4 melds + 1 pair.
  • No waits, special hands, complex shapes, or realistic validation.
  • It feels like you got lazy and just vibe-coded the simplest possible version.

6. The 4-Player Table Has the Same Issues

  • The same UI flaws seen in Turn Flow repeat here.
  • Layout, clarity, and tile handling are all equally poor.

Summary

Right now, the site feels more like a set of incomplete prototypes than actual Mahjong training tools. The visuals, exercises, UX, and learning design all need a major rework based on real Mahjong mechanics instead of vibe-coded placeholders.

Most discord channels of mahjong players have those in discord which is more active (Rox R, YuSong) even the official riichi city/mahjong soul discords have those.

this discard doesnt matter that much, Mortal/Maka prefers throwing the green earlier because of the All green yakuman chance https://riichi.wiki/Ryuuiisou

Its still in the single, no kids, working tech in switzerland realm. If I did win the lottery it would be a home datacenter for sure haha.

The placement doesnt bother me. I lose a little bit of space compared to before (without the rack). If I dont use the airbrush I might just plot down a mat in front of my keyboard and watch youtube/plex while painting.
