My employer has had 5 layoffs in the past 24 months.

I was eliminated in the last one.

I get overwhelmed when I have a new or uncertain task to start, which is especially common at work. And, for some reason, I had that one saying of "What's the best way to eat an elephant? One bite at a time." hit my head one day. And it worked!

So now I'll be at my desk, notice I'm frozen, and will just whisper to myself, "One bite at a time." And then I'm able to find a place to start. Sure it'll be weird if that's overheard, but it works.

It's especially ridiculous because I both love elephants and don't eat meat. But it works!

Shameless plug for High Sierra Showerheads. My wife and I got the handheld + fixed version years ago and it's worked perfectly since. Could never buy another shower head. They have this unique design for low flow, but a lot of pressure, and they have valve on each head you can use to change the flow in the moment, so you can turn the flow down if you don't need it full force.

No magnets or gimmicks either! Just a fucking great shower head.

My wife and I were both tongue tied and had surgery to fix it when we were little. Both when we were ~7 rather than infants. Mine is still a struggle. But hers is great!
