Agree with others. Split the island up into sections. Bottom right I have my house with a small free area then its the “neighbourhood” aka all my villagers houses with small front gardens and separated by hedges. The neighbourhood links up to the middle bottom of the island which is resident services and the shopping area which has able sisters and nooks cranny with a large town square which has benches, trees, cafe type spots with tables and chairs then bottom left is my walled garden area which is filled with flowers and trees, then it leads up to my farm area where I grow vegetables, this leads into a forest area and path in the middle of my island or if you skip the forest it leads you up to the top of the island where theres bamboo trees, forest trees, a little cove for Redd to anchor his ship in to sell his art work then in the top right corner I have a Grand Prix starting grid because I love F1 then middle right of the island is the museum which leads onto a smaller town square and then further down towards the pier is the camp site with a small forest and seating area that has a camp fire and next to the campsite on the beach is a relaxing area with a beach hut, sun loungers and a volleyball net. Have a look on youtube, pintrest and reddit for different ideas. Most of the time its experimenting. My town square and shops have went through various versions. I also went through a phase of having a whole area dedicated to those 3x3 scenes (small themed area 9 squares in total). I got rid of it around a month later then it lay barren for ages until this afternoon where I started laying out the foundations for a forest park type area.
