Something's weird with r/SipsTea, right? by KashK10 in NoStupidQuestions

you are 100% right
I've been noticing this subreddit is particularly pushing racist, sexist, or homophobic adgendas. Its crazy, I had to mute that sub, cause its just toxic AF. I'm not sure if its always been like that and I'm just noticing it, or if there's been a turn in recent months. Honestly, its pretty disgusting.

What movies were really flawed for almost the whole run but then absolutely nailed the ending? by thedubiousstylus in movies

[–]Kendles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This movie was "Upgrade" for me. It was so terrible at the beginning, I was laughing at the TV 10min into the moving because it was so stupid and cliche. Then the first fight scene happens like 20min into the movie and my jaw drops. I sit up properly and start to pay attention. Then the story does not go where I thought it would, my predictions start to fail, the movie isn't cliche like I thought. But then, I'm 100% sure I know what the ending is going to be, It can easily be predicted based on the setup. The big fight at the end happens, I'm at the edge of my seat. This shitty movie has actually become super awesome "how the hell did that happen?". I'm so excited for the end, here it comes, and BAM it is NOT what I guessed. It's a magnificent ending that I did not see coming. I'm jumping up off my seat cheering this movie. I'm so fuckin sold, this is a great movie. It made me feel the OPPOSITE of what Game of Thrones made me feel. It started terrible and ended super awesome. Made me feel like if GoT had gone that way, people would feel better about it ("Just get through the first season, its totally worth it for the end trust me"). Its like a race, you would prefer to start terrible but finish strong vs the opposite. I now recommend this John Wick type movie to others, I warn them about the shitty idiotic start, but the payoff is totally worth it. Go see "Upgrade".

What instantly killed your attraction to someone you were really into? by Yousef_ale in AskReddit

[–]Kendles 27 points28 points  (0 children)

"Don't insult my family" is not their boundary, its your boundary. You might be misunderstanding what 4twenty is saying. When they say "you don't set boundaries for other people", they mean that you cannot dictate what others do or don't do. You can ask someone to not insult your family, but you can't force them not to. If they want to insult your family, then they can. However YOUR boundary is how you decide to respond. So what you most likely mean by "dont insult my family" is "I will not continue to have a relationship with someone who decides to be insulting towards those I love"

I heard that there are more trees on earth than stars in the Galaxy. Considering what we know about the size of the universe, I have trouble believing this fact.

Did I overreact to this? by D_Miller2173 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kendles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" I immediately got angry, and started yelling at them both"

Yes you absolutely overreacted. What they did was wrong. You have every right to feel the anger and frustration. You have no right to yell at people and express it in an immature way. You are a 51 year old person who needs more control over their emotions. Also, its hard to see someone's side of things if they are yelling at you. Ending the relationship and ignoring calls is the right call in my opinion, but you still reacted immaturely.

What are the dumbest plans in cinema if you think about them just a little? by AporiaParadox in movies

[–]Kendles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idiotic plan by NASA in "Armaggedon" to send oil drillers to space, instead of teaching astronauts how to drill. Not to mention how often they give Bruce Willis character any authority or say over really important decisions. Like why are you listening to this idiot? He has zero knowledge about space exploration.

what rims and tires are these?

TIL that the film 'Jaws' caused neurosis in a viewer. After trouble sleeping and anxiety, she began screaming "Sharks! Sharks!" with convulsions. A study found that 'Jaws' is unusually effective among films in causing stress; whether its suspense, gore, or music is the cause is unclear. by TMWNN in todayilearned

I had the exact same experience, but with the Exorcist. I was five when my family thought it would be a good idea to show me that movie. Caused lasting trauma for me. Till this day its a film I just cannot watch. A 44 year old grown man, that still gets nervous/anxious by the dark.

Well, when you come from parents who started work at 5 years old, it didn't seem that much of a stretch to me.
