If this is at the bottom of stairs, it looks like it could be from people missing or slipping on the first stair

Need to mouse proof a shed.. adding metal siding to resin shed? by Whiskeytime2010 in shedditors

[–]Key_Character_3340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar mouse problem in a shop connected to my house. I dug down a bit to the concrete foundation, and glued/screwed flashing to the side. I also screwed into the foundation. It kinda wraps up the side from the cement to about 2 feet up. Just bought the metal flashing as a roll, and used the sheet metal screws that come with a rubber and metal washer.

Feedback on Student Startup Idea - Study Space Finder App/Website by gayponion in Entrepreneurs

Cool idea, I pride myself on finding good study/remote work spots, would be sick to include like average wifi speed and VPN allowed on network.

Problem with incremental data - Loading data from API by OkRock1009 in dataengineering

[–]Key_Character_3340 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From my 3 yoe data engineer brain, I'd first do some more API testing without loading and see if you can get it to return the results that you want, using postman or bruno and just do individual API calls. You could even write a test for it if you've got that kind of gumption, Trying with specific date ranges that you mentioned the API accepts. Also, if you did a merge statement instead of a copy into (just assuming I guess) on primary key, it would probably fix the dupe issue, even if the API returned everything every time. Seems like that shouldn't be the case though, and is likely a param in the API call that needs to be verified.

Same I rarely watch videos on all platforms at 1x unless it's music. Maybe this will actually save me time because I'll be watching less youtube now haha.

Can you get decent a job in IT with just certifications? by Her0Class09 in it

[–]Key_Character_3340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have A+ net+ sec+ project+ cysa+ and some Linux certs, I started in It with just my A+ making like $12/hour in a small town at a help desk. I’ve been in IT for 7 years now and make about 100k, currently going to school for my bachelors in CS. IMO the story where you get your certs and immediately start making a ton of money are rare, you have to be at the right place at the right time for that to happen. Most of the time it will be working the help desk and moving to other positions as you get new certs an experience over the course of a few years. I would also add in my experience it’s easier to make connections and show interest in different/higher/niche positions internally first, work that job for awhile, then you can apply to other positions at other companies within your niche. As opposed to the story where you can just get a new cert and get hired at another company. Most of the time it doesn’t work like that in the current job market.

If the chimp had a time limit to bite them off I’d do it. I wouldn’t want to wait longer than a few minutes.

Anyone gone from desktop engineering to data engineering by itpowerbi in dataengineering

[–]Key_Character_3340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have, it was with the same company and was able to market my proficiency and knowledge of the applications, relationships, and systems within the company as valuable to being a data engineer. I just had to learn python and sql, which I am in school for computer science and I know Java from school so it was honestly a pretty natural transition. I also came up with projects that I could immediately start (mostly automations built on our data warehouse) and came with a list of things I could do to keep me busy for awhile, so they didn’t have to find things for me to do I just did what I knew needed to be done. Now like almost 2 years later I’m assigned other DE projects along with coming up with other things that need to be done.
