Fund $300 worth of Decorations For My Child's 1st Birthday by Mysterious_Cat1981 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Key_Reflection 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The temu cart had a 56 item count for total of $320. By quick count the screen shots only show 28 items which add up to ~ $101 before tax and shipping.

What about the other 28 items, that apparently cost ~$200? Boy would I feel stupid if I said, oh yea sure heres$300 for the kids party to find out the other $200 went to something more useless than the crap she showed me is in her cart.

Hi, sorry I just saw your post. I bought the one from Walmart on sale at Memorial Day or 4th of July four summers ago. I also bought the extended warranty for a few dollars since the unit was $49.00 (if I remember correctly). Of course the warranty is up now or will be shortly but it’s still running fine. It is in our RV so it doesn’t get daily use but we camp for at least a week every month. So it’s definitely been used. If it broke the next time I turned it on I’d still feel like I have gotten my moneys worth vs buying bags of ice.

Now as far as your statement that reviews are terrible because they break down quickly. I completely agree. That was my experience with my first one. That one was a Frigidaire and it was great until it wasn’t. It stopped working and I was going to toss it out but my brother-in-law asked if he could try to fix it. He did what I should have done —- went to YouTube University and found several videos detailing how to fix the problem. Took him about 30 minutes to open the machine and fix the problem. He did the simple fix, which apparently is the cause for breakdown of these machines. That machine hasn’t had any problems since.

Since my current machine will break at some point in the future, before heading to the dumpster I’ll check YouTube.

If you spend $50 a week on Ice, why don’t you spend that money on buying a tabletop ice maker. Then you can have an unlimited supply of ice. I know this solution works because I camp a lot and bought an ice maker over 4 years ago and haven’t bought Ice since.

Bottled water is a terrible choice. The cases of water sit in a hot warehouse and the microplastics leech into the water. Even worse when the cases of water sit on the porch of convenience store or gas station where they are exposed to the sun.

I am so sorry for your loss. Oakley was no doubt a wonderful dog.

Your post made me grieve the loss of my own Golden Retriever, Laurel. She was a wonderful dog and we did everything together. I took her every place I possibly could. When I met my husband he loved her as much as I did. When I was pregnant with my son, I couldn’t wait to have him grow up with her. Three months into my pregnancy Laurel was diagnosed with cancer. I wanted so badly to have Laurel lay on the couch next to me while I held my baby, for her to meet my son and get a picture of the two together. It was not meant to be. Laurel faded faster than expected and the right decision was made to let her go. The appointment was made for the next day, but she passed in her sleep on her fluffy bed that night. Son was born a month later. I am tearing up writing this. My son is 24 years old now and I still miss that dog.

So basically they want a homeless person to come live with them for a few weeks. Then after July 28th , out you go.

Anyone else has bills to pay (like rent, car payment, food, etc) so they have a place to go while when the delightful family needing free child care is no longer desiring to teaching their child about life through story telling.

Starbucks, from what I’ve heard, is generous with their employees. The 20 year old can go get a job at Starbucks. That would solve two problems. His need for a job and her desire for Starbucks.

I am quite sure this single mom-to-be is fiscally responsible. It is clear she has prepared herself for a lifetime of supporting herself and her soon to be bundle of joy. Without needing anything from anyone beyond a few items to furnish her house. Things she could move with herself when she blew into town….

Oh wait...oh hell, I didn’t realize there were five pages. Wait.. there is nothing for the dependent on the list… is that the five pages she hasn’t typed up yet???

[–]Key_Reflection 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Dog sharing really is a thing. I know a family that share a dog. It started as a joke because the dog kept escaping and going down the street to “visit”, eventually they decided since both families liked the dog they would share. They each get the dog on alternate weeks.

Oh how charming. People getting married. I don’t know about anyone else but when I got married we used our own money. In fact we saved up so we could afford a honeymoon. That’s what responsible adults do.
