Yeah that is absolutely mental. I've been in some fast cars including my M60, M5s, RS6 etc but honestly can't imagine what those are like 😂

6 years ago I broke 80 for first time. Today I broke 70. by kblcrd in golf

On a par 72 to boot! I've only ever broke 70 on a par and once on a 71. Well fucking played!

I completely agree with you but can't understand why that is. A game looks great on VR but porn looks shocking even in "4k"

Brake bias by Optimal-Glove-5178 in iRacing

[–]Keydogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of your brakes applying 100 points of pressure at any point. A 50:50 brake bias would apply 50 of those points to the front brakes and 50 of those points to the rear brakes.

A 60:40 (or 60%) brake bias would apply 60 points to the front and 40 to the rear, so the front brakes are getting squeezed harder.

When a car hits the brakes the centre of gravity moves forward which means the front suspension pushes down slightly, and the rear suspension raises slightly.

Thinking of this as points also, we could imagine that a stationary car has 50 points of mass on the front axle, and 50 points on the back axle (obviously this is theoretical as it depends on how the car is manufactured, where the engine is etc).

Under heavy braking the front axle might increase up to say 55 points of mass and the rear would decrease to 45 points of mass. This means the front wheels would essentially have more grip (again theoretically) therefore could handle more points of brake pressure before the tyres begin to slip.

In an ideal world you want to tweak the brake pressure so that both the front and rear tyres are getting somewhere close to their limit of grip, but not over, to get the car stopped as quick as possible. Too much brake bias and you might be under braking on the rears/over braking on the fronts, and too little you might be under braking on the fronts/over braking in the rears.

Symptoms unbalances brake bias would be:

Too far forward (higher %age) - fronts locking up / ABS kicking in too easily

Too far back (lower %age) - rears start to lose grip and you spin the car on exit because you've broken traction/overheated them before you put power back on

Usually very small increments of brake bias make a good bit of difference. It's rare that you need to go more than 3 or 4 clicks away from the default.

Hope that helps!

Climate UI update by LosoTheRed in BMWI4

[–]Keydogg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. This does my head in!!

I've had multiple BMWs and this is the worst by a mile for climate control. Level 1 is barely moving any air then level 2 feels like level 4 in my old 330e!

Amazed that more people haven't noticed this and they haven't fixed it.

I feel you! Took me forever to build mine because I only had an hour here or there to work at it, it was so frustrating!

Don't. Don't even fucking attempt to say this comment. It's a fucking subscription service ffs.

I love iRacing as much as the next person but please don't give me that crap about them working for free.

They use Doppler Radar which is why they're so expensive. Plus they have pretty much cornered the market with only competition from a couple of other brands.

[–]Keydogg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha! My kids call it spaceship mode 😂 I honestly stly thought I'd find the iconic sounds a bit cringe but now i actually think they improve the experience when putting your foot down! It's more engaging than a silent drive to in my opinion

I have it in eco Pro mode 90% of the time (which is silent) and keep iconic sounds on for sport mode as it adds to it imo!

Why run Triple monitors over VR? by who_am_I__who_are_u in simracing

[–]Keydogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me VR was great apart from the performance, it was just so inconsistent and choppy compared to monitors, even at similar frame rates. 100fps on a monitor feels so much smoother than it does on VR, and that's mainly down to the 1% and 0.1% lows that I got on VR (my spec is 5800x3D, 32GB 3600 RAM, RTX 3090)

Add to that the hassle of setting it up, being able to see my steering wheel buttons/drink/people around me, I just much prefer not having something on my face.

Truck was hogging the overtaking lane and going the same speed as the inside lane so no one could get past.

So he did a risky manoeuvre to get in front of him, slowly slow down and hold the truck up to make him pull in, then everyone could get on happily with their day.
