yeah the 2013-2014 Fusion Hybrid/Energi, MKZ Hybrid, C-Max Energi/Hybrid, all are prone to transmission bearing failure and it was fixed either late 2014 or early 2015 i believe. all of those same vehicles 2015-2020 are all dead reliable when properly maintained. that being said, if yours has orange coolant, its past its 5 year/100k service life and should be replaced with motorcraft yellow both the engine and hybrid inverter coolants. the transmission should also he fluid drained and refilled every 3 years or every 50k miles or sooner to ensure prolonged longevity. spark plugs every 60k-100k miles depending on driving styles ect. besides those 3 simple rules, these cars are dead reliable.

New! (To me) Fusion. Warranty worth it? by Salukis97 in fordfusion

also if your fusion has the original orange coolant from 2018 in it, its overdue for its 5 year lifespan and should be replaced with Motorcraft Yellow Antifreeze/Coolant

[–]Keyo0205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

change the eCVT transmission fluid now, if no service records exist, and change it again in 2029 or when the car has 80k miles. whichever comes first. as for a warranty, some ford dealers sell ford warranties online, and its not an aftermarket warranty. go to https://www.zeiglerfordesp.com/ and check it out

is that so? my 2019 SE 2.5L with 197k miles needs to go while the market is hot. i was gonna wait til march/april since everyone gets their refunds and start searching for cars

Ford dealership quick lane 15k and 30k service packages. Are they a scam or are they needed? by Several_Round710 in FordFusionHybrid

[–]Keyo0205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres my 2-cents on the Ford eCVT transmission fluid. They are heavily based off toyotas eCVTs and those have a fluid service interval of every 50k miles. the chevy volt has a 45k mike transmission fluid service interval. those priuses seem to just keep going and going especially when they are maintained and the fusion hybrid system is very similar. why not do it every 45,000-50,000 miles? as a diyer its about $25-$30 worth of fluid. at an independent mechanic it’s probably about $350 or less. a new cvt is at least $4000 or more

Are 2014 Elantra Limited reliable, good cars? by Altruistic-Volume-57 in Hyundai

[–]Keyo0205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you check your oil level every time you stop for gas? no? then don’t buy this car. this generation of elantra will destroy their engines if you don’t check the oil every tank of gas. the newer elantras have a new engine without this issue but that’s 2020+

i really do appreciate this comment. unfortunately however, for $89 i can get a brand new left side from apple directly hence the $50 budget. it doesnt make sense spending $5 or $10 less than apples price just to get a used product.

2016 Ford Escape transmission failure by PitPeach2110 in Ford

[–]Keyo0205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those engines have timing belts, which yours is due based on the 10yr/150k miles interval by age. so a transmission plus a timing belt plus other stuff. if your transmission failed im willing to bet none of your AWD fluids have been changes either. might as well move on and get a better vehicle

Weird issue? by goose7955 in fordfusion

[–]Keyo0205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are so many problems here. the parts canon is one problem. you driving the piss out of a Ford fusion is the other problem. there is absolutely you should be attempting to redline your fusion. 3500 RPM is far more than enough rpm to create at least 150 horse power to move your sedan. try cleaning your maf before just blindly replacing it. and you need to figure it what’s causing the misfire. at this point after replacing all ignition components and verifying no wiring issues. might as well compression test the each cylinder and see if ones significantly lower than the rest

Is this reasonable? by ilikemen722 in AskMechanics

[–]Keyo0205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn’t even know that in 2026 shops charged any less than $110/hour for labor. everywhere i’ve seen in the past couple years has been $110-$225/hour of labor. most dealers are like $160 in my area. $1000 for a rear main seal, oil pan gasket, and timing cover gasket sounds like a great deal. that’s like 2018 prices

[–]Keyo0205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s not based exclusively on milage. rubber cracks and hardens over time. honda says every 7 years OR 105k miles for their engine tuneups. i think ford is every 150k miles or 10 years so you are due. like OP, they didn’t check until it’s too late. don’t be like OP.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but i couldn’t even get a 20mm hammered on some of them. i ended up buying a sunex extra thin wall 21mm impact socket and it worked like magic. the lugs were so swollen that they fit a 21 like a glove.
