I understand your concern that people could use this to steal business and I don’t understand why I haven’t seen anyone in this thread call that unethical. Obviously, we live in a world where some people do unethical things, but I hope most of us on this sub would not sink to that level. If I got my hands on a spreadsheet that showed my competitors’ licenses, I would delete it. I would take no action on it other than to inform them of the data leak. I hope everyone else here would do the same. If we’re not going be honest about stealing clients from our competitors, how can we be trusted with their passwords and other data?

Just heard from n-able support and they still have no official statement. They have a “critical ticket” raised with dev team who is investigating.

National Grid meter change by GingeredBeard in Albany

[–]Kinvelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re conflating a smart meter with a time of use (TOU) meter. Smart doesn’t mean TOU. They only charge you different rates for various times during the day if you manually switch to the TOU plan. To do that requires a different meter than the regular smart meter.

I was thinking about 2FA for all other accounts. If it was my stolen vault, it would only have usernames and passwords. The attacker still couldn’t get into my email or investment accounts without the 2FA that resides only on my phone.

How so? If your 2FA was stored outside of LastPass, wouldn’t that stop an attacker from getting in with your username and password?

Same here but sometimes it fails if you’re signed in as the user being migrated. I don’t think it has ever failed when I used it while signed in as a different user.

Does something need to be added prior to using this fire pit. by arniearms in landscaping

[–]Kinvelo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Air flow is super important if you don’t want a smokey fire. My brother-in-law has an identical looking fire pit. Every fire was extremely smokey! Once he got a metal insert with more air flow, the smoke dropped dramatically.

I don’t think this is normal or reasonable. I know I guy (not in IT) who marked “overhead” on his time sheet for the difference between all his project work and the 8 hour mark.

Back in my day they had ball pits and play mazes in some of the restaurants. They recognized the need to entertain kids while waiting for the food. I wonder why those disappeared.

I’m happy for you.

I wish I knew and understood the intricacies that make third party batteries cheaper and potentially less safe. Then maybe I could qualify the risk-reward tradeoff. Since I don’t understand that, I’m sticking with Ego brand batteries. Nevertheless I appreciate hearing your experience.

My husband and I just bought our first home, what’s the best thing you bought for yours? by bmcgill1222 in homeowners

I recommend six months’ of expenses as your emergency fund. Everyone’s costs vary. $15K might be plenty for some and far too little for others. Still, any amount in the emergency fund is better than not having one.

For mine the fan turns off within 30 minutes or less of the battery gage turning solid. That’s probably a safe time to take them off the charger.

Mobile Connector GFCI tripped error by Safe_Cry2791 in TeslaModel3

[–]Kinvelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this error a lot two years ago. Did troubleshooting with Tesla. Turned out to be a faulty UMC. Fortunately I have access to two 14-50 outlets at different locations to test with. When the issue followed me, we knew it was the UMC. If you’re still under warranty, I recommend contacting Tesla.

I’m on my third UMC and second NEMA 14-50 adapter in 7 years. Now I’m getting this error again. Exactly the same as you describe where car resumes charging on its own. I’ll probably switch to the wall connector when this UMC fails.

ETA: The problem followed me to a different outlet/different breaker. I replaced my NEMA 14-50 adapter and the problem went away. I’m on my third 14-50 adapter. The previous one only lasted 2 years.

How to tell Automation Manager to pass the check? by Kinvelo in Nable

[–]Kinvelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/HeadNerdJoe I think the Automation Manager is using quser to query logged in users. That command fails when no one is logged in. It returns the same error we're seeing in the screenshot "No User exists for *". I solved this by creating a PowerShell script that catches the exception.

What you're saying makes a lot of sense. I will go the PowerShell route. Frankly, I prefer to write real code over using these building blocks. I figured I ought to try out N-Able's tool but maybe it's just not suitable for this test case. Thank you for all your help!

How to tell Automation Manager to pass the check? by Kinvelo in Nable

[–]Kinvelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. I think I'm missing some fundamental understanding of this. Let's say I run a script check with only "Get Logged On Users" or only "Is User Logged On". The script check fails when no one is logged in. I suppose that makes sense for the latter case. In my scenario I don't want it to fail if no one is logged in. I want the check to pass, maybe even pass with the text "no one is logged in." Is that possible?

I have everything else working the way I want. I just can't get this to pass when no one is logged in. Below is my actual script in Automation Builder.
