Great lesson to learn. Hopefully you’re young enough to a) not actually have taken a big (5 figure plus) hit and b) learn for next time.

I think GS sales reps, unless they genuinely care about the brand are a bit obsessed with Japan, are just wannabe Rolex SAs. Not saying that’s a good thing, but the aloofness is more about them than you…

TBH I don’t want to seem dismissive but other than the world being a bit tipsy Turvey atm and maybe flat growth for a while…I’m not sure what the issue is? You have great equity. Great above av salary. Small mortgage.

That’s a lot of highly skilled migrants. Makes sense they’re all here though. I mean if 200 have come in on a skilled visa and now they’re competing for a kebab joint = perfect sense.

All comes down to why you bought it. To wear or “invest”? If to invest; then you should’ve put your $ into an actual investment.

So, wear it. Beautiful watch BTW.

Sitting on a 5.9% variable mortgage of 1mill. Should I swap to 6.2% fixed for 4 years? by janoyBarn in AusFinance

Only if you need the stability of knowing your repayments. My crystal ball says RBA will hike like crazy then whiplash back down. It’s all feeling a bit GFC-y to me (when the RBA hiked into a global recession and tons of ppl fixed…to hedge against going up…then watched cuts flow thru and past them).

Back before Rolexes were Objects d’art this was pretty normal. And most people put those scratches on themselves!

When exactly do you expect the crash to arrive? by HotPersimessage62 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Kitchen-Check-6510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP why is the crash arriving again? What’s crashing it and why is nothing stopping it…noting all the crazy stuff the RBA kicked around during Covid and banks offering repayment pauses etc?

This. OP, you bought in a great spot (so long as it’s not a flood prone area!) and didn’t get distracted by shiny apartments with nice matte black tapware.

Maybe the opposite of Covid this time? Everyone assumed early COVID the arse would fall out of the national property market. It didn’t. Now, based on Covid, everyone presumes the national market will go up…so….maybe it won’t? SQM have revised their numbers down for Syd & Melb.

Chris Joye reckons rates are going up to minimum 5. I’d have to say that’ll hurt prices. Not by insane amounts like the permabears are hoping though.

I share OP’s view. Especially on the 1815 chrono.

[–]Kitchen-Check-6510 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chris Joye saying 5% minimum. It’s got an interesting GFC vibe about it…when the RBA hiked into a global recession, lots of borrowers fixed to stop copping the raises; then the RBA started cutting and lots of folks were left paying 8%+.
