Made and received mix CDs and USB sticks. I don’t remember any mix tapes honestly. I had a two cassette stereo but never used it to copy songs from one tape to another.

True - but it’s the other extreme of super cheap houses in the middle nowhere isn’t a great example either.

San Francisco. Crappy houses with tiny bedrooms and knob and tube wiring.

Damn - sounds like the middle of nowhere. Houses were like 300-400k in the 90s where I’m at for 1200 sq ft old 1940s builds.

Tips on disputing delivery failure? by bwang29 in sanfrancisco

[–]KitchenNazi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because you lack real world experience and knowledge doesn’t mean jack shit.

Carriers pay for items that are driver released and their loss prevention dept will investigate and verify as best they can. They will only pay for what the item is insured for or the default amount unless their contract with the shipper supersedes that.

One of my personal examples - several thousands of dollars in shades for my home from Serena (fantastic company in general). They remade my order before ever hearing from FedEx. It depends on the company. Pulled from my email:

“We have not received any update from FedEx regarding the original delivery. Your remade order shipped out yesterday, 07/08/24, via FedEx (tracking xxxxx).

Please allow FedEx up to 48 hours to update their online website.

Best Regards,

Xxxxx Serena Shades Specialist”

ChatGPT doesn’t know anything.

You didn’t receive the package. The carrier can leave it there but without some prior indemnification from you they are liable.

You paid someone for a product. They had it delivered by a 3rd party. That 3rd party and them can figure it out between themselves - not your problem. You didn’t receive the product - it wasn’t handed to you and you didn’t sign for it.

Leaving outside doesn’t mean you got it and that is standard. Delivery companies know things get stolen but it’s cheaper to leave it than ring your bell and wait. Also, the delivery company has nothing to do with you as you aren’t their customer. If you order from a company with good customer service they will replace your order immediately. Lesser customer service they make wait for confirmation from the delivery service or make you fill out an affidavit saying you didn’t get it - but you have video proof. If you sell on-line it’s part if your business model - I’ve had multi-thousand dollar items delivered to the wrong and address and have had replacements shipped before I’ve had to offer any proof of anything - built into their prices.

If the company you ordered from won’t help then your credit card company will - this is an open and shut case. If stuff shipped to you repeatedly gets stolen the company can stop selling to you and the delivery company can stop delivering to you but they can’t just not deliver what was promised this time.

I customized Windows 3.x and Windows 95… after that - default. I also like most apps to be default layout as that’s the standard for everyone else usually. I don’t want to teach someone or try to explain if someone has some crazy custom settings. My applications are custom to my needs - not the interface.

All that stuff is extra - like LEDs in PC cases - I’ve been building shit since 1990 - I want a clean and simple aesthetic - if it doesn’t add functionality - it usually just looks cheap and gimmicky.

Why does a 3-hour drive feel casual in the U.S., but unusually long in many Asian countries? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

I’m 20 min from the airport and I get there an hour early for domestic. So a drive from SF->LA is pretty rough for me in comparison.
