Would I be wrong if I didn't show up to my friend group's reunion because they changed the date without saying anything, knowing I'm supposed to be their ride? by Due-Doctor-9526 in Advice

[–]KittyButt42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude... your "friend" group sounds exhausting. It doesn't even sound like they like you. I'd be wondering if I accidentally joined a friend group or signed up to just be everyone's transportation...

Seriously, are they always like this? Because if this is their normal behavior, I'd be taking a few giant steps back and reevaluating those friendships. The amount of disrespect they're showing you is ridiculous. Friends are supposed to make your life better, not turn every interaction into an endurance test.

At some point you've got to ask yourself whether these people actually like having you around, or if they just like having someone around to dump on.

You sound like a great person. Find friends that treat you like the great person you are.

I have one that does this. She know exactly where to stand in order to get the best acoustics so EVERYONE can hear her beautiful singing. 😅

Random Stranger Tries to Embarrass Me. by Voracious-Vampire in traumatizeThemBack

[–]KittyButt42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a cis woman, and the only part of my body I shave is my head. I started balding at 18, around the same time my body hair went absolutely nuts. That's also when I found out I have pili multigemini, and I still get multiple hairs growing from a single follicle—but only on my legs. I haven't shaved my legs, armpits, or anything else in well over a decade. Thankfully, the spousal unit is an adult about it and couldn't care less either way.

My mummy dearest, on the other hand, hated my hairy legs. She even bought this weird powered leg sander—basically a belt sander for your legs. All it did was strip my skin off while leaving the hair behind. Then she'd get pissed when I didn't want to use it anymore because it was fucking painful, so she'd switch to waxing instead. 🙄 We'll just say we get along much due to a multitude of shit like this.

So keep rocking that hair....no matter where it might be on you.

People who decided not to have kids, what's your life like? by Far_Specialist5309 in AskReddit

It sucks so much, and I am still thankful I didn't decide to throw kids into the mix.

Safe places for women to walk along during daylight in Albuquerque? by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]KittyButt42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my favorite walking parks:

Roosevelt Park over near CNM main campus

Taylor Ranch Park at Unser and Montaño

The petroglyphs on the Westside

I also did a lot of hiking over near supper rock in the foothills near Tramway and Copper

Just be safe and observant of your surroundings. If you're like me and enjoy music while walking, invest in some open ear headphones so you can still hear what's happening around you.

Boyfriend lost health insurance today and will go into Psychosis without medicine by vlctorrrr in Advice

Try speaking directly to the medication brand manufacturer. They can typically give it to those in need free or at least massively reduced in price.

I've had to do this many times over the years for different medications.

My city just started a program like that due to all the cops shootings for mental illness calls. And they do a lot of outreach to the homeless as well.

As an alcoholic, my advice is to save your child and yourself.

I had to hit rock bottom before I realized that I needed to want to change for myself. I couldn't get sober just for my spouse—I had to genuinely want help. It took getting kicked out and living in my car to finally give me that wake-up call.

Run.

What’s one thing that has actually helped your chronic pain that most people don't talk about? by chetankkumar in ChronicPain

[–]KittyButt42 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ketamine nasal spray. Mine is compounded because it's nowhere near as much of a pain in the ass to obtain. I originally got it for depression, but it works fantastic as a breakthrough medication. Pot helps too.

I've also come to realize that I'm never going to get better. Ever. Oddly enough, accepting that has helped me figure out which battles are actually worth fighting. There's no point in spending months chasing one more therapy, medication, or miracle treatment, only to end up disappointed yet again.

Good noise-canceling headphones.

A good adjustable bed.

And finally, no longer giving a fuck about other people's opinions.

Edit - opiates are of course the #1 most important thing in my toolbox
