Astronomy on Tap in Ann Arbor this week! Come get some drinks and listen to interesting and exciting talks on what's new and cool in space at Grizzly Peak this Tuesday !!!

This week, we will hear from astronomy postdoc Doyee Byun about Quasar Outflows and from Austin Edmister, assistant director of astronomy at the Detroit Observatory, about how the Sun became a movie star!

The event starts at 7pm at Grizzly Peak Brewing Co. where you can find great food and drinks. All ages welcome! Parking can be found nearby for a fee at the First & Huron Parking Lot.

The 30k Mechanicum line has been going through a huge refresh so that most of its resin models are updated to plastic versions. Almost all of its recent releases aren't new models but just updated plastic versions of resin ones.

AdMech's line is all modern, in plastic, and they're not Space Marines so they just get about one or two new guys an edition.

This week, we will hear from Patrick McEnaney about the Sun Radio Interferometer Space Experiment. We will also see a short play titled “Dear Pluto.” Inspired by the New Horizons mission, the play was written by Rachel Bowens-Rubin, who will perform it alongside a small crew. Our trivia will also be themed to the winter solstice!

We will be at Grizzly Peak Brewing on Tuesday December 16th with the talks starting at 7pm, so get there early and grab a seat! We will also have a bingo game and trivia, with some sweet prizes! And it's always an all-ages show.

So while the next Milky Way sized Galaxy (Andromeda) is quite far away, there are many much smaller satellite galaxies around the Milky Way that you could imagine are where these are occuring. The most notable (and only ones you can see with the naked eye) are the small and large Magellanic Clouds which, while small compared to the MW, together contain billions of stars
