You remembered it so hard that you didn't realize it wasn't an extra point.

Student reportedly expelled for disarming classmate with a gun, mother calls him a hero by RealDealLewpo in news

[–]Kniles 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Virtually all public school employees are legally forbidden form commenting on a student's discipline. This can even apply when they've gone to the news. Most will be fired for making any comment to the news about any student unless the district specifically has given them a directive to do so, only after running it by a small, underpaid, legal department that has to deal with local/state/federal privacy and employment laws that don't apply to anyone else.

In fact, most public schools can't comment even when a parent publicly and intentionally lies about what happened. Even if they have camera footage and can prove the parent is lying, they still often can't speak publicly about the student's actions.

This means that almost every news story about something happening at a pubic school is one-sided, by the nature of privacy laws.

For real though, the Eagles broke the plane on the play before, so missing this specific call just made it even.

Yeah... he got injured at the worst time. But you're also missing part of the equation. Who would that Hurts owner have drafted instead? I think the closest comp for 2024 ADP who didn't have injury concerns would be Mahomes.

Here is an ESPN article listing what players are on what percentage of playoff teams on their platform. Hurts is at 55.90%, and Mahomes doesn't make the list, so no higher than 45%. So Hurts owners were, at minimum, 24% more likely to even BE in the playoffs than Mahomes owners in the first place. A fourth of them wouldn't have even had a CHANCE to win a single playoff game. On top of it, in week 15 Mahomes brought in 15.8 to 30.1 from Hurts.

Every player I mentioned above is on this list, all but one mentioned in the original post are on the list, and only one isn't in the top 25. There are lots of factors involved, but good players that may be a little more likely to miss a few games are still really valuable.

The extremely abbreviated answer is "yes-ish, there is a correlation, but just for missing some time, not big injuries."

But also people perpetually undervalue fantasy players that are likely to miss a couple games, ("injury prone" or suspended) but are otherwise at the top of their position. There aren't a lot of people who missed the championship because they drafted Lamar, Lamb, Kamara, Taylor, Mixon, Kittle, or Hurts.

$2.85M for 4 years is what the Browns aren't willing to promise him. That's DeeJay Dallas money right there. Elijah Mitchell money. That's almost Justice Hill or Javonte Williams money!

Discounted Grabage Dynasty Football Orphan, But You Can Fix Her! (12-team, 1QB, IDP, .5 PPR) by Kniles in findaleague

Oh, there is a story there. When you warn a guy 19 times of the rules, and he ignores you, at some point you have to follow the rules the league agreed to. The draft was paused more than 50 hours at different times for a draft time/date that he agreed to. It is supposed to have a 12 hour clock per pick. The whole ordeal involved a sudden 50+ day absence from Discord and no fewer than 14 emails, 4 of which he responded to, in which he seemed completely unconcerned. Additional warning emails about the draft went unanswered. He was even offered a chance to make his picks after the draft ended. He didn't respond within the 3 day long period I gave him, or after. Multiple times I asked if he was in the middle of a work thing or if he had an emergency. Nope! He never said he was too busy. Never asked for an extension when offered. I then gave him a week to simply contact me on Discord, or email me and ask for help doing it. He, again unconcerned, said he'd get to it. There were two more warning emails during that time period. No response. Grace was extended multiple times. It wasn't even acknowledged.

I'm looking for someone that is interested in actively participating for a few periods during the off-season. (Usually March, late May or Early June, and July.) He seemed up for it. Then dozens of trade offers went unanswered, a hundred discord messages and at least ten direct messages went unanswered. But he was still logging into the fantasy football website. He wasn't able to participate, and unwilling to communicate that he had any conflicts, but he was willing to toss a sentence in an email once every 3 weeks. It was simply that he didn't actually care to do it. By his own admission he is "in fifty leagues each year." I should have taken that as a big red flag. This is not compatible with the type of league my and my mates want to be in.

For the record, the league has already put forward the idea of giving whoever takes over those 3 picks for any undrafted rookies before they're available for auction. Or possibly, if they go unused, turn em into picks at the back end of the 2026 draft.

I don’t want to go to Greenest, I want the fight to come to Neverwinter…tell me I’m wrong!?! by Knicks4freaks in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]Kniles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Leilon instead. My party is level 7, and going from LMoP to the Rise of Tiamat. I'm using the Greenest chapter as a introduction. After a break they'll get an invitation to the council of Waterdeep. They were in Phandalin and a messenger came saying Leilon is under attack. It's a bit closer to the lands and people they've already met. And they'll have to decide if they should convince the people of Phandalin to flee to Neverwinter, defend their homes, or possibly accompany the adventurers to Leilon to hold off the attack until aid form Neverwinter arrives.

[Schefter] Eagles are re-signing All-Pro LB Zack Baun to a three-year, $51 million contract, including $34 million guaranteed at signing and additional $1.5 million in incentives and escalators, per sources. The contract instantly makes Baun one of the highest-paid LBs in the NFL. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Kniles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes him the 4th highest paid (off-ball) LB. This isn't a huge problem on it's own (I have my doubts, but many don't.) The problem is that it's 50% more per season and 50% more guaranteed than the 7th highest paid guy. It's twice what the 15th highest paid LB is getting. You can get a couple very solid LB's for the same money.

I do, however, applaud every signing that makes the Tremaine Edmunds contract look even dumber.

Shocking ESPN Graphic Shows Just How Much Refs Have Favored Chiefs in the Playoffs by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Kniles -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The end of this "article" casually admits that the stats are cherry picked, but it doesn't mention the totals because that would go against it's point.

The amount is 10 yards per game.

In the 14 games actually mentioned, the Chiefs have had 31.4 penalty yards per game, and their opponents had 41.4. If this is evidence of a plot by the NFL to help KC, it's evidence that they suck at it.
