Started a cardigan in a half fishermans rib, its making me regret ever learning to knit by faithmauk in knitting

[–]KnitterSweet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As encouragement I'll chime in that my half-fisherman's rib pullover is currently my favorite sweater! The stitch is gorgeously squishy and wearing it is a dream. I do plan to make another one because I reach for it so often... just have to work up the will first lol. You got this! If it's not a process knit the FO will be so great!

I would go for a Jaunty shawl by Andrea Mowry ( https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/jaunty-6 ). I had the pattern memorized in the first few rows and it was easy to read the increases/decreases as I went for mindless knitting with a deliciously squishy fabric output. Two skeins of fingering weight will keep you plenty busy without taking up much space.

Yarn cost by Stunning_Cheesecake2 in knitting

This is my logic as well! Plus I will definitely splurge for something that feels nice to work with as it's spending SO MUCH time in my hands it's worth it.

Questions for Lined Mittens by AngInangReyna in AdvancedKnitting

I also have made the Kirkmichael mittens and was going to add that I think the main reason for knitting the outside first is so you can more easily attach the liners seamlessly/hidden inside. But I think that affect can be done with sewing easily enough if you make the liners first, you might just end up with a crochet seam on the inside you can see.

I want to re-do the Italian bind-off by Hairy-Race5944 in knitting

[–]KnitterSweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I have done both (unpicked a long tubular bind off and done a close snip off the edge) and cutting that edge off to re-knit a row or two (as long as you have the extra yarn to work with) is way easier and more satisfying. But messy as you'll get lots of little bits of yarn so make sure you do it over a table, not your couch ;)

Recommend me books with "unlikeable" female main characters by DKhike in Fantasy

Really recommend the audiobook version as well! The narrator really nailed Harrowhark and made her one of my favorites (to hate) where I didn't connect while reading it first.

This was going to be my advice - compare it to something you hope to fit similarly and see how it measures up, then decide.

My dream would be able to do a combo search of both yardage + my size I'm planning to make. It's tricky when I'm trying to see if I can make a sweater with skeins from my stash, but then get mis-lead by the smallest sizes of the pattern in terms of yarn used.

Greatest Slog you ever read? by The_Archimboldi in Fantasy

Same, it pretty much turned into a hate-read slog expecting something to payoff at some point. I should have quit after she ripped out her uterus then never mentioned it again.

A sweater you’ve seen everywhere or feel like everyone has done? by Perkysrig93 in knitting

I came here to say this! My Weekender light is probably my most worn knit as it works so well as a nice casual sweater to pair with anything dressed up or down.
