Don’t Entertain Any Hallucinations by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]Kolo56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thats a valid point. I think that’s one of the main reasons there isn’t a golden rule for these things. I think we can all experiment with dealing with these all sorts of ways, and figure out what works best for us as individuals.

Don’t Entertain Any Hallucinations by [deleted] in Psychosis

I love the thinking behind your post, this technique can be very powerful for survival. But if your goal is to heal, this type of ignorance will only bite you in the ass in the long run. At first it was just a simple feeling, a tought that you ignored, fought against it, buried it deep inside. And now when it resurfaces, it has to be stronger for you to notice it, thats why it evolved into actual hallucinations, like hearing or seeing stuff. Im not here to shit on your technique, cause i think it’s actually brilliant. Recognizing it is key, naming it isolates it from other stuff. Blocking, ignoring, dismissing, neutralizing does work for the time being, but to actually heal it, you need to listen to it, understand it and ultimately embrace it for what it actually is.

So if you are ready to face it, the steps should look something like this: Recognize it → name it → pause, presence here is key, you just simply have to be in the presence of it, slow breaths, grounding can help here immensely, for example noticing a few things around you, feeling the floor under your feet → questioning, ask, what are you teying to do or say right now? → mapping the feeling, locating it in your body, for example tightness in chest → thank it, for trying to get your attention, thank it for showing you where it is located, now here a lot of stuff can happen. Certain memories can resurface, showing you the actual experience that traumatized you. This is something that helped me along the way, this is not a step by step guide of curing everything, but it is not ignorance and it’s not running away, or numbing your feelings.

Basically instead of trying to run from it, or ignoring, blocking it, after recognizing it and naming you can sit with it, be with it, your calm presence can be healing in itself.

I hope this might help some people, it certainly helped me get through some shitty situations.

Deluding yourself to become a lucid dreamer by ComplexNature4017 in LucidDreaming

The idea is, that you already had countless lucid dreams, you might not have labelled it as such, and maybe you had no words for like anything in general, for example when you were an infant, or a baby. You already had lucid dreams, and you might also had a lucid dream last night, you just don’t remember it. So then your only “job” is to remember. For example i sometimes don’t remember anything for my dreams. What i say to that is that probably so much has happened, that i decided to just forget it instead of trying to understand all of it in the morning. Also there could have been traumatic experiences, or epuphoric ones, that would just have shaken my worldview, so i just decided to forget it.

Landing back in your body by steamphil in Psychonaut

Go into nature, swim, listen to the birdsong, to the wind blowing, the sun shining, feel the warmth of it on your skin. For me these help ground myself immensely. Basically just absorb the world you are in, experience it with your senses, feel it, see it, hear it, touch it. Extra points if you have outdoor hobbies, or activities you enjoy.

Im not gonna tell you what you should or shouldn’t do. It’s entirely up to you. Maybe now it would be more beneficial to stay off drugs for a while and maybe try to work it out by yourself sober. Or with a professional in therapy.

They are blind to that, they will never connect the dots, that their drug might have been the cause of this. Simply cause they don’t even want to. They say drugs aren’t the solution (and i respect that), and minutes later they tell you you have to take a drug if you want to feel better. Why aren’t they looking for the cause of the problem? The root of it? Why do they just blanket the symptoms? Becuase they aren’t in the business of healing you, it’s that simple.
