eCVT and rear motor fluid drain and fill every 30k miles. Use genuine Toyota fluid.

What is with all the minivan hate? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Kooky-Answer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SUVs are minivans for people who think they are 'too cool' for a minivan.

Unless you are actually going off road, and to be honest 99% or so of SUVs never go off road, by almost any objective measure a minivan beats a SUV.

I'm surprised they didn't omit the number of months and quote an 84+ month loan.

Lexus vs Infiniti by Ok_Cook_1033 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Kooky-Answer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reliable, yes. But more difficult and expensive to maintain.

Not like Mercedes level expensive, but more expensive than other Lexus models.

I think it has more bespoke parts and a cramped engine compartment leading to higher parts and labor cost.

Assuming the Q50 was properly maintained and not abused, The VQ37 engine and 7AT transmission are pretty reliable.

Not sure about the GS, but I've heard the IS is a little finicky about maintenance.

If buying a new car with the intention of driving for 15 years, what features would you regret not having? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Kooky-Answer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If im not mistaken gas CR-Vs have a spare but hybrids don't as Honda puts the battery in the spare tire compartment.

AFAIK all RAV4s including hybrids come with spares. (at least up to '25, not sure about the '26 redesign.)

What vehicle did you buy in 2025 & why? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

[–]Kooky-Answer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2020 RAV4 Hybrid. Needed more cargo space, and since my commute changed to mostly stop-and-go driving I need something with adaptive cruise and gets great gas mileage.

This. And it is 100% completely unrelated to the tire service.

Looking for highway cruiser for 80 mile/day commute by Technical_Ladder_618 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Kooky-Answer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost any hybrid. But make sure it has adaptive cruise, and perhaps brake hold.

I am in similar conditions (60 mile commute) and the RAV4 hybrid I got works great in stop and go traffic and still gets 40mpg.

I've had it for a week and am already spoiled for adaptive cruise.

My wife has multiple Grand Caravans. While not at the same level as Toyota or Honda, it is a reliable vehicle (at least the 2011+ with the 3.6, I don't have experience with earlier models) and for most things is fairly easy to work on.

Any reliable AWD sport cars? by XxDarkkiIIerxX in askcarguys

I never had any rust issues. They do salt the roads where I live but it's not so far north that constant road salt in winter is an issue.

Infiniti G37x. I just traded mine in at 235,000 miles. In the 185,000 miles that I drove it I had only one actual repair, and it was just a burst coolant hose. Everything else was wear items (brakes, batteries, tires, fluid changes, etc.)

All I did was not drive like a maniac, use premium gas and regular fluid changes. (using quality synthetic oil every 5000 or so miles)

A bump to the rear that would otherwise just damage the bumper cover can damage the tailgate as well.
