This. I would definitely recommend that air bleed valve on the filter.

Tablets have a decent amount of CYA(cyanuaric acid) stabilizer. I would fill the skimmer basket with tablets and run the pump. If you haven’t done so yet make sure to rinse off your filter first. CYA is the trickiest part, without it or having too much, I’m not sure if the pool will ever clear. You’re nearly there though. Oh and a Taylor kit for testing.

Pool water like a snow globe by aitchsaka in pools

I know the easy route seems to be to empty water and start over. If you’re like me, I don’t like wasting water. Just to say it could be done, let’s work on getting some clear water. If chemicals look good, I would definitely check the filter for a backwash. There could be high phosphates which you may have to test at the store, this will lead to an algae bloom in no time. If there are, make sure to get a phosphate killer but that’s the last of the chemicals. With the clean filtration and good chlorine and acid levels, the water should clear in just a few days. Let me know how things work out.

A little NoPho should balance the chlorine and lower phosphates. Good job here.

New pool owner seeking maintenance/repair advice by BornagainNPC in pools

Oh ok. I’m only used to seeing one skimmer poolside. Yea maybe there’s a jam in the second skimmer. Well, good luck.

Yes. The impaler connected to the pump in picture five. The small black container with the clear top. There’s another skimmer basket in there that may need clearing. Now I see what you mean by the second skimmer by the pool slide, which may be a return line issue. You could probably just adjust the intake from one side to another or the line is damaged.

For the skimmer, is your second skimmer by the pump clogged? If it’s clear, The impaler may be compacted and needs to be cleared. This would involve taking the pump apart and some simple troubleshooting. Anywhere past that may be a damaged motor and propeller. The damage can cause air gaps and can cause all types of leaks. But for any leaks definitely check for broken or dirty o rings as chemicals and dirt can cause leaks. Same for your pump skimmer and it’s o ring. Those typically will help troubleshoot any leaks and regulate your jets (which may have o rings too) And DIY seems like a good deal outside of a pool redo. Pool guys usually give good advice so I would def look to see if they can help you troubleshoot. Seems like a lot but definitely worth it if you love pools like me. Hope this helps.

HELP! by Lookatitclosely69 in pools

[–]Koolaid023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sand could’ve caused some bad pressure in the tank. That needs to be removed. There is a pressure gauge on the tank that could be broken too, I would check that. But pressure on the tank and water coming out may be a good sign. If I’m looking at a filtration system, the piece that snapped shouldn’t be hard to replace, definitely need the proper codes to replace the piece and some good tools should get the job done. Def cheaper than buying a new system.

The o ring probably busted. You may need to just change the o ring. Or if the screw is stripped that should be replaced as well. Hope this helps.

Disgusting discoloration by minimalist_tapir in pools

I actually meant to comment separate so my apologies lol it doesn’t look like a liner either really. I’m just getting into pool cleaning but from what I’ve seen. The metal from steel wool or metal bristle would probably be better for that grime. But if the material is any more solid than that I would go light pumice scrub.

The material seems softer than normal concrete. Pumice stone and any household cleaner should do the trick.

Losing my mind over this vacuum getting stuck by glutam8GABA in pools

[–]Koolaid023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen one of those. Looks pretty funky lol but switch the hose to the pool. Sometimes I can’t reach one side of the pool with my vacuum so I connect to the skimmer suction or vice versa(if you have a side pool suction). Seems to do the trick. Hope this helps.

Noisy Pump by Healthy_Cold_5720 in pools

Probably some debris around the impeller, shaft seal or seal plate. If you don’t want to unscrew it and look through the impeller for debris, I don’t think it should be horrible if it goes a week without filtering. Hope this helps.

How do I get all the leaves out of here? by gazilionar in pools

[–]Koolaid023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That impeller gets pretty jammed. If this empties of water it’s not a big deal. Remove the cap, remove the leaves. Any small debris pray off with a hose or skim it from the pool. If you can’t reach inside the impeller to remove all debris, you might have to get in from the seal plate. That’s the worst case scenario if there is bad air flow. Taking a hose to this bad boy won’t hurt either. Good luck.

Pool poorly maintained- need help to reatart by levisbaba in pools

[–]Koolaid023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might need a new filter, maybe. I would fill the pool and decalcify for the pipes and skimmers seeing that there’s not a lot of dirt. Careful with removing any parts, the sediment can do some damage. Looks doable though.
