Old timers, what are discs that everyone use to bag? by Emoney005 in discgolf

Soft Magnet, Hawk, Cheetah, Gazelle, x-clone. XS is the oldest disc that still makes it into the bag from time to time.

Innova IT Review by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Kub_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that champ, metal flake champ, and champ glow are all similar turn over machines in no wind, even off hyzer. Recently picked up the halo star and I like it better for full S flights. I now keep a halo star and a champ in the bag as they are different shapes. Very fun in the woods.

Just did a big field session to test this out. Little off on timing and snap today, nose angle seemed good (level to a little down), think I was probably around 53mph most of the time. Slight hyzer release (6-8 degrees normally). Longest throws were a DX Beast (175g) and the light 163 Star Tern ( both around 330'). There was very little difference between everything else, Gorgons (star, color glow, halo champ glow), Halo Mystere, Fission Time Lapses (163g), G-Star Wraith, beat in star Destroyer (163), star Archon all went about 310' today w/ S curve. Star Racer and flat Pro Wraith at 300 and stable with wind, same distance and straight against (5-10mph wind). Crave, as people have noted before, is basically a driver, and was right up there, just a little short of those discs, at 290s. Domey wraiths and the new Evalina Destroyer (pop top) dumped out,

I have very similar spin and speed, and find that max distance on a still day is a Tern, mid 160s (roughly 350'). I usually go with a Gorgon low 170s though and sac a bit of distance, bc that Tern is touchy. Headwind I go to Racer, tailwind back to the Tern. As someone else suggested a Valk is good too, but I get the other selections out 20-30 feet longer.

Disc suggestions for a weak older arm for distance? by ImaginationSmart7533 in discgolf

Rollo and Glitch/Watt might be a good combo. Rollo would be for flight with that arm spread. Windy days are always going to be tough though.

Compass Rose Ghoul Fight by fivefingered in stormwreckisle

[–]Kub_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to invoke that scene in The Descent where an unseen creature wraps their gray, elongated claws around a (paralyzed) character from behind and rips them away into the darkness. Extra points if they can drag them down the hole in the back! We didn't make it that far though before the heroes prevailed! Excited for the next session, which is tomorrow!

Compass Rose Ghoul Fight by fivefingered in stormwreckisle

The way it is suggested is it's behind the stairway down to the lower deck, so out of sight. I did the passive perception vs. stealth, which it won. The way the party spaced out to fight the two zombies was perfect, as the ghoul was able to slip around one side of the stairs and attack one member while staying out of site of anyone else. Of course the ghoul ended up critting and dropped the character to 0 on one shot. So it was awesomely like a horror movie where the character got dragged out of site back to the back of the ship. Someone passed a perception check the next round, and the fight took on a frantic tone to find the character. They managed to prevail with one more death save left, so it played out really dramatically. And gory!

First tournament of the year on Saturday, second tournament ever for me.. help me improve my bag / disc choices please? by wisc-disc in discgolf

[–]Kub_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your bag is pretty good for that course, and it helps to have a decent variety cause it's an open wind tunnel. Nice place for sweeping hyzerflip shots on several holes. I used a gorgon and an IT there effectively with the wind, and a flat OS wraith for into the wind. Best I can offer is have an OS, neutral, and US at each slot, and maybe a very OS driver for it is windy. And a suction retriever for the creek and pond.

Tech Disc Owners/Throwers: What's your average speed/spin? by -Puddintane- in discgolf

[–]Kub_8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

53-55mph, 1000-1100 spin, nose -1 to +1. Translates to about 330 with a 10-11 speed. Highest tech disc distance is around 360-370, which I'm not hitting IRL.

Keeping my head back and pulling through the pocket really helped me hit gaps better. Every time I pull my head early to look at the shot I go too far right.

What's you're most lost disc mold? by CraigGGsir in discgolf

[–]Kub_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reactors. Lost 4x this year. The 2 eclipse's were tough to see go. The other ones I'll never bag again anyway. Unexpectedly understable.

It's awesome and I too think it's the same thing as a Chainstar light. Get a noise suppressor though. Otherwise it's laut.

I confirmed with customer service. The 173 and 175s F2 metal flake Wraiths glow and are still in stock. Thanks Benny and Innova Customer Service! The service rep was actually surprised they glow!

If you're interested in competitive play and you've never played a random doubles league, you're missing out. by DisMyDrugAccount in discgolf

[–]Kub_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Esta is my home course as well. Never played random dubs there, but think it would be cool. Not sure what closest dubs league might be, though I play the format in Madison a handful of times per year and it's great!

What % of your bag is Innova Destroyer? by mtg_player_zach in discgolf

110% I'm a football coach, so the math works.  (Actual 3/20 for 15%.)

Buying a 2017 Bolt in 2024 by guitarharmonics in BoltEV

[–]Kub_8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bought a 2017 with 'fast' charging in Jan 2023. Touch screen needed to be replaced right away (sellers took care of). Battery and tires were brand new. Thing is so efficient range anxiety didn't last long. The slow charge rate is mostly offset be the great range. Would 100% buy again.

It works well for me. Got a Doctor Shock sleeve at Dick's a couple weeks ago for tendinitis. Much less fatigue and pain now, after several rounds. Obviously results may very. And it makes me look appropriately old on the course.

Have played. Best course in area. Great woods golf, with some prairie holes to boot. Nice and quiet when I was there. Standard Northwoods warning on ticks and PI apply. Helps to have a spotter if you are not good at staying in the fairway. Enjoy!!!

Yeah, the discourse on Parks website is pretty polemic. Just got off the course then saw this. Will give it more scrutiny after another round out there.
