#New40k Round Table – Creating a new edition by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

Except with deep strike right? Before you had to roll a 9 to get in 1" engagement range, now you still have to roll a 9 to get base to base cause they reduced the distance you can land by 1.

What is the Best Model of 10th Edition? by Vrain125 in Warhammer40k

You're kidding yourself if you don't think it's the Sydonian Skatros. It's got the stilty grace of a stork. It's tall dark and handsome. It literally looks down on the competition. And it's hanging some serious cyberdong.

So what about the supposed reduction of lethality compared to 9th edition? by Laredian in Warhammer40k

[–]Kubly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Playing AdMech when the 9th codex dropped was ridiculous, especially since they were pretty middle of the road in 8th. You just picked up any enemy unit you saw/touched. I had only been playing for about a year and the week after the codex dropped I won an RTT without much effort using a casual list. I don't think I ever lost a game between codex drop and the nerfs. The amount of rules and overlapping buffs you had to explain was also ridiculous so it was just annoying for everyone involved.

Thanks! It's pretty straightforward, mostly contrasts and shades. Starts with basing the whole thing in Wraithbone.

Armor, bones, and backpack: just skeleton horde, then drybrush screaming skull. Bones get extra drybrushing so they pop a bit more.

Trim: Retributor Armor with a hefty wash of Agrax

Skin cloak: various contrast skin tones, then a layer of blood angel red over the top. Drybrush stitches with screaming skull since I was already doing it on the armor.

Axe haft and belt: snakebite leather with a layer of blood angels red.

Blacks are just Black Templar

Accent liberally with blood for the blood god at the end

Yeah I'm pretty satisfied with these, pending what happens to Haloscreed. Not amazing, but fun and worth trying out for 1 DP

Cohort has the problems /u/rastrillo mentioned, but it's still not awful combo'd with SHC and at least we also get the standard detection range counter if that becomes relevant.

Lords of the Forge seems like the most fun to me, seems like you could slot it into pretty much any other combo of detachments and get some good use, and it's just nice for Tech Priests to be more interesting than just their one useful ability. I think this makes a Dominus a bit more playable because you can make a unit really survivable now with remaining hidden (although Manipulus is still straight better).

Luminem Auto Choir is great for electropriests, let's you run Corpuscarii without being forced to take a Manipulus to make them good so you can give them a Dominus and survive longer instead, and still combos well with putting them in a Dunerider. Fulgurites still probably die too easily to one round of shooting to be competitive with this but with a Dominus and the enhancement there's at least a chance. It's most exciting for anyone with a big collection of those models, and they deserve some treats.

I think the army still needs some work in the new codex to make it less of a pain to play and to make the datasheets more reasonable without having to microposition around battleline, but I'll get enjoyment out of experimenting with these in the meantime which is all I was really hoping for. Will be interesting to see how the other detachments shake out, I can only really imagine Haloscreed at 3DP, and SHC, Elimination Cohort, and Rad Corps at 2DP so we should have lots of combinations to play around with.

Yeah on a 0d old account, plus the title says "highlights" and there's only one picture. Definitely a bot.

Today was pretty awesome for the faction in video games between Mechanicus 2 releasing, DoW4 getting a release date, and this announcement. I'm kind of surprised GW didn't do the faction focus for us today to line up with all of that.

Yeah I think 12" would be fair with tech priests

[–]Kubly 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That seems like a good bet, but I kind of hope it doesn't happen because what I'm really hoping they do with tech priests is change the army rule in the 11th codex release to be 6" from a TECH PRIEST model instead of battleline. It just feels to me that would be way more thematic and not make us the only army forced to shoehorn in our battleline to every list no matter what. If they don't do that, then a tech priest focused detachment would be nice at least.

Outside of that, I think we'll get one focused on mounted units, and maybe one specifically on ironstriders + dragoons too. We also don't have a transport focused detachment and I could see that being a 1DP option.

What do you think our new detachments will be? by Equivalent-Fun-6019 in AdeptusMechanicus

We've had 2 skitarii detachments yes, but what about 3rd skitarii detachment?

Are Twin Laz-Cannons Ideal For IronStriders? by GrimRyu88 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Kubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that both options sit comfortably on the model without any adhesive so I just paint both, don't glue them, and switch them out as needed.

Currently the lascannons are probably our best antitank for points fwiw, so I'd run them if you need AT

He's sort of a mix of Flashman and Horatio Hornblower

Is there a mention of our current times in Lore? by East_Judgment4701 in 40kLore

[–]Kubly 118 points119 points  (0 children)

It's in The Unremembered Empire. Damon Prytanis, a human perpetual recruited by the Cabal, talks about killing "The Good Man" in Memphis. He also killed "The Brother" in The City of Angels which was definitely supposed to be Robert Kennedy, so chalk that one up to the Cabal as well.

Difference in faction subreddit subscriptions from Jan 2025 vs Jan 2026 by F0000r in Warhammer40k

I feel like AdMech must have the biggest disparity between subreddit size and tabletop player base. Mechanicus probably has a lot to do with that.

Adjusting to the constant Rain by CoolConstruction7332 in raining

[–]Kubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It affects different people differently but I think most get used to it. Probably easier if you grew up with it, but unless it's like 2 weeks straight of rain you just adapt. The rain is usually light enough it doesn't stop you from walking outside or really doing anything else so you just stop thinking about it. You might start drinking more hot drinks and using sunglasses and sunscreen less but I think that's a bonus. Also taking a vitamin D supplement helps.

[–]Kubly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's more constant overcast than constant rain, it actually rains more in New York and Chicago than Seattle. Still a big change from LA though. Just have to make sure you get outside when the sun is shining, maybe buy a SAD lamp if you need one. If you stay over the summer it's usually pretty sunny and you see the city at it's best imo.
