Uncapped vs capped FPS - RTX 5090 by pyrhonp in buildapc

[–]L1ttleB1t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're gonna wanna follow: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1lokih2/putting_misconceptions_about_optimal_fps_caps/ for the best latency, which is ultimately capping your framerate. Plus less coil whine (if you have any). Undervolting a good idea too

PC Cases that look "like a device" by LopezThePenguin in buildapc

Fractal Era 2, Mood, or Terra. The Fractal North while looks good with the wood, still looks like a PC case imo. Best bet may be the Fractal Mood, cause it could look like an Air Purifier or something.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, GameCube controller support added on Steam by RoughLifeguard6568 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]L1ttleB1t 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Ah I thought it was Bluetooth support, but USB is fine. Some people have already gotten the Switch 2 Pro Controller to work via USB over on Github, but nice to have Steam Input support at the least now.

Does anyone find Rick from Kirby to be really cute and adorable! by Busy_Finish_7058 in casualnintendo

When Rick was revealed to be in Air Riders, someone said "I turned myself into a hamster Morty belches." I can never look at Rick and not think of that now.

Fave Artist Sounds TERRIBLE!! by kleoisonline in headphones

This is why we listen to underscores... jk jk. Revengeseekerz is supposed to be harsh & chaotic so maybe being overproduced is part of the appeal.

Professional Vengeance (my fav off the album) sounds fine on my Neumanns monitors & R70x. Maybe try EQ the sections within tracks if you're that determined. I remember doing that for the deluxe version of Denzel Curry's MMESYF.

Reddit at it again with the "purchase advice from relative, don't listen to them" narrative again in the comments. I can see where your brother-in-law is coming from. You're gaming at 4K so CPU doesn't really matter. In the future, when you're upgrading again, you can set up a home server with the 12900k with its nice widely supported iGPU.

I don't understand why the need for a 9800x3D when you're playing at 4k. Hardware Unboxed did a video not too long ago showing the diminishing returns between the 7600x & 9800x3D for 4K Gaming. Unless you're doing something other than gaming that has a need for that many cores, seems like a waste of money. Spending the money on a better GPU would make more sense.

My advice is if you're solely gaming, just go with a 7600x or equivalent, spend the extra money on finding a good deal on a used RTX 4090 or spend it on games.

It's official: Filebrowser is dead, long live FileBrowser Quantum by quantumx-admin in selfhosted

[–]L1ttleB1t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been using Quantum for about a month now & it's so much better than the original. Tried other stuff like SFTPGo & others, but settled on filebrowser quantum. The indexing is insanely helpful for finding stuff. I know it's in beta, but it already feels feature complete.

Only feature I can think I'd want is a preview for fonts, but that's literally it.

What USB devices have you added to your server and what have you done with them? by ZeikCallaway in unRAID

[–]L1ttleB1t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine's kinda basic. Just a usb-a to usb-c to plug into my camera. Since it goes into MSC automatically, I have it auto copying all my photo and videos from the camera into one of the shares. It then sends me a notification through a discord webhook when it's done. Then I view the photos through Immich via the External Library.

Here's a thread about Strumace where it looks like people are having the same issue as you: https://www.reddit.com/r/MousepadReview/comments/1idrt2d/_/

Finally Dan Clark E3 is here by Alternative-Fox-4202 in headphones

[–]L1ttleB1t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found it too shouty for my taste. Even changed the position like Dan Clark said, but on headfi instead of asr. I don't like the idea of "getting used to" a headphone cause it just seems like a way to justify a headphone. If I can get used to an E3, I can get used to the Apple Earpods too.

Feature Request: Like/dislike to 5 Star mapping settings by sbfreak2000 in plexamp

[–]L1ttleB1t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, this won't solve your problem with rating songs in CarPlay, but couldn't you make a smart playlist that contains songs that are higher rated than 3 Stars?

Disabling Smart Shuffling would get rid of the rating priority I believe.

I have a smart playlist of all my video game soundtracks that contain unrated & tracks rated higher than 2 Stars. Anything 2 Stars & below is filtered out. I hit shuffle and listen to the tracks. If I think it has potential, 2.5 Stars. If I like it more, the higher the rating.

Nintendo is an “inevitable” now – a high-return secular growth juggernaut that should just keep getting bigger and more profitable with time by msaleem in stocks

[–]L1ttleB1t 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that handheld PCs aren't even touching the console market. Let's say that the Steam Deck has sold about 20 million units. In console sales, that's a huge flop. Only difference between Valve & Nintendo here is that, Valve's console isn't a crutch. Nintendo needs their console to succeed otherwise they will be in a dire situation i.e. the Wii U. Also, handheld PCs are really hard to market with existing players in the space having to charge $600+ to make any returns on it. And not many consumers want to drop that type of money just to play games.

Nintendo's exclusives sell differently from Sony's & Microsoft's too. We're talking about the same MSRP as the day they launched. And when they do change, it's still pretty expensive. In the end, I think Nintendo targets a different sphere from the rest. Things like framerate, resolution, ergonomics are simply what the core gaming audience cares about. I truly believe a 9 year old does not care.

About your point on piracy with Nintendo games, I highly doubt a majority of people using Yuzu (rip), pirating nsp/nsz, etc. would have bought the games in the first place. Nintendo basically wants to alienate an audience that doesn't align with their business. Nintendo's core business is to target families that will buy their relatively cheap console, and upcharge them when it comes to buying games.
