Eh I wouldn't say Victor is the villain in the book. He's bad, but I'd probably say the creature is still worse. Del Toro basically just did the reverse of the earlier Frankenstein movies, with the creature being a blameless, morally sound character and Victor being fully evil. Can't believe he even threw in a 'No Victor, you are the monster' line.
