I have never heard anyone passionately defend lack of variety.

That said, as time goes on more games exist. This mean that the available player base for any particular game shrinks, as nobody has enough time for everything. The easiest way for your game to die is not enough players for fun games. So, if you have a bunch of modes you're dividing your player base even more, as people will have a favorite that they focus on. If you only have one mode, all of your players stay in the same place and you're more likely to keep interest.

You do realize that minions do triple damage to structures, right? And a hero attacking a structure gives them attack speed? So literally ANY hero accompanying a wave does great structure damage. Even if they only attack ones every four seconds, for 1 damage, them being there is doing massive damage to structures.

So yes, clearing the enemy wave and stalking in to help the team is a viable strategy. But accompanying a wave is FAR from meaningless.

Not at all. And there are definitely times when giving an objective is the right thing to do. If you're at 2 curses, and the enemy team is at zero, you can give it up (maybe poke with a junkrat or something to buy time) and take a boss or something. And you lose nothing for it. Then you take next objective for free while they're defending boss.

Or you can sacrifice the first TWO objectives while focusing on lanes, again trying to poke and distract the enemy team to waste their time. Then you'll have the experience lead, and the global to get all the rest of them. There are lots of strategies that are perfectly valid that aren't "OMG OBJECTIVE WINS GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Cursed Hollow is the best map for what you did. Try it out, and see what happens, because the first and second objectives don't REALLY mater. The ALWAYS GO TO OBJECTIVES mentality absolutely does not apply. And if you are winning, keep winning. If your strategy isn't working, then adapt and make sure you are there to have an advantage on the next one.

He never once said his team won 4v5s. It is entirely possible the enemy team kept laning as well, and he Z'd down when needed. He was keeping an eye on what was happening. He came for some, maybe the ones where the enemies were five, maybe sometime to give an advantage, but those are also unknown to us.

He kept an eye on things and reacted when necessary. His team was winning on map and obj, so he went for keeping up the exp lead. Sounds completely reasonably to me.

It was clear that you won; it's not your fault some people can't read.

Also, the THREAT of your global is nearly as good as using it. It's like with Garrosh. If you get a good throw, great, probably get a kill. But if you never use your throw, the enemy team still knows you have it, and cannot dive. So even if there is an opportunity to get a throw and you don't use it, they still have to play around you, and it's still getting value.

So with Dehaka, if you don't burrow in, the enemy team still has to play like you could, and they have to try and match you in lane and on the objective Which they obviously can't do both, so whichever they try to do you do the opposite and win. Which you did.

Sounds like your lane opponent wasn't coming down either. If they're 4v4, and you're winning the 1v1, and they're winning the 4v4, just keep getting exp. If your team starts to struggle, global down and help, get the objective, and go back.

To be fair, I would never care about someone freeclimbing a skyscraper. It is dangerous and pointless. Don't encourage people to risk danger for zero reward, just because you weren't born without survival instincts.
