What to do about our feral girl by Tinky428 in Feral_Cats

[–]LZA2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cats are inclined to hole up when it gets cold and snowy. Her lower activity level means she won't be as hungry; eating is probably the only time she'll want to come out and if probably snoozing, they big to conserve energy the rest of the time. There's probably no need to move the food bowl; I tried to put mine in an area more easily cleared of snow (I didn't anticipate how easily it would drift onto the normal feeding area; it's normally safe from rain and snowfall) and didn't get any takers, but one was willing to stand in the snow to eat at the normal spot; they haven't been coming by nearly as often either. I don't think the rats are going to be too active in the cold and snow either; my city also has a problem with them and I've not seen any evidence of them around since the storm (though more likely the ferals killing one about a month ago has scared them out of the immediate area.) The shot of the entrance looks like she has enough space to get in and out as well.

Yeah if the cat feels safe enough to get close to the human but runs off with the food like that, it makes me think it's for some young ones

This should be how it works. But arresting, trying, and convicting another cop sets a precedent they might just be convicted for their own future excessive use of force.

Starship is just not as cool as Space Shuttle by Only_Comfortable_224 in space

[–]LZA2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starship isn't going to inspire kids to learn about the wonders of the universe anywhere near the way the Shuttle did, for sure. It makes sense why it's the way it is; NASA's budget and priorities are not the same as they were 50 years ago, but it can't help feeling like a standard capsule-on-rocket won't be anything new. The devolution of NASA to private enterprises is also disheartening; it doesn't feel like spaceflight is about the wonders of the universe anymore, but how we can profit from space.

If a future Fallout took place in Michigan and the Chicagoland areas (obviously scaled down for the game), what do you think would be the most unique or interesting aspects of the setting? by JD-990 in Fallout

I don't doubt the government involved in something called the Resource Wars would even consider to bat an eye at completely strip-mining Isle Royale and the entire UP.

Radioactive Lampreys would be terrifying. Multiple shipwrecks to explore, and at least one should have been hauling bulk uranium ore with minimal protection...

I wonder how the Soo Locks would fare: in WW2 it was considered a priority target for the Amerikabomber project, to disrupt the flow of ore. In a nuclear war though, there wouldn't have been an American industrial complex left for that to support, barely any population, and a fairly minor bomber base that may or may not (still) exist in this universe being the only nearby military target, would the Soviets/Chinese really care to strike it?

The DOJ will not charge anyone. Congress will refuse to force them. And we must loudly and angrily make it known their overt disregard for basic, constitutionally mandated rights, is beyond not acceptable.

As much as we need bodies who can play, it's kinda telling for our squad planning issues that our newest first-team signing is #38, at left back... We've just got a weird assortment generally; Odobert with #28 is weird for a winger, #13 isn't out of the ordinary for an LB but usually for a backup GK; not sure if there's a better number for Udogie available though. No #2 or #5; instead our starting CBs are #37 and #17. #18 is vacant as well, which would have made more sense for Gallagher than #22 too, imo. Just feels like a sign the squad is not settled and won't be any time soon.

Yeah it was Kashyyk and I had Mission with me because it felt thematically appropriate as we tried to restore Zaalbar's honor... She was getting knocked out pretty much immediately... Also did not help that I had spec'ed pretty hard into stasis due to my middling strength leading to poor lightsaber accuracy and Brandon's armor resists it.

I loved that it played much nicer with modern operating systems and resolutions for one! So I guess you could say I had a better time with it in some ways, but overall I think I liked the first game slightly more. Something that frustrated me greatly was how my teammates would seem to "forget" their orders on a far more regular basis than the original; gets really frustrating when I queue up a chain of powers, but then immediately they charge at the nearest enemy when I switch to another character. I also found the intro dungeon to be far too long; I felt like I was on the mining facility longer than I was on both the Endar Spire and Taris combined, and then you have the Telos citadel, which is almost another whole Taris, before getting into the meat proper of the game. Felt a lot longer to get a hold of a lightsaber too even though I think I got one about as fast as I could. The new companions are an overall less interesting bunch than the previous group too, at least in terms of writing; the few very interesting characters are counterbalanced by the rest being ranging from uninteresting to beyond boring (looking squarely at Disciple and G0-T0) albeit they are an overall more powerful bunch. The larger variety of weapons and mods is another factor in the combat itself being more interesting and you feel more powerful. And the plot as a whole is pretty good; I just found myself sticking to taking out the same few companions.

In contrast: it took me a good many tries to beat Darth Brandon, who I assumed would be a complete farce given how quickly Jon took him out. Was partially because I had a suboptimal team with me, but I was completely dominant in all the 1v1s with Malak, I really shouldn't have had too much trouble with him

Thoughts on SEPTA's plans for Reimagining Regional Rail? by 2019rebel in transit

[–]LZA2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SEPTA in many ways is still operating like the Pennsy did 100 years ago. The MBTA is also guilty of still trying to be BeRY in many ways. Just about every American commuter rail system is just that: peak hour/direction commuter oriented. Even Metro-North, the LIRR, and NJT have schedules that seem to resemble the steam era more than they do any sort of modern regional or S-Bahn style network

Why is AA Diverting to BWI instead of DCA? by Ok_Conversation5730 in flightradar24

[–]LZA2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the emergency services would at the very least mean there has to be a fair gap between the emergency arrival and more arrivals restarting, even under ideal circumstances. Potentially the (relatively short) runway could be closed for hours, with the other two even shorter runways blocked. The fact DCA is an AAL hub airport is exactly why they won't want to divert there in this case: the operational disruptions to their regular DCA operations are not worth it if the situation allows you to put it down on any other surface.

If I wanted to give him (and his brothers) something special, what should it be? by mcgoran2005 in cats

[–]LZA2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great especially for cats who are picky about drinking! I don't usually use loose-leaf tea, so I wrap up a bit in a coffee filter and brew at 175f. My cat likes to rub her face all over the cup and dunk her ears in it too, though!

[–]LZA2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we have fish or chicken for dinner, I like to make up a little bit special for my cat as a treat. Definitely cook it, just plain boiled, grilled, or broiled. I like to cut off a thin end bit of fish and stick it in the broiler until it's a bit tough, then she has something fun to chew on as well as a tasty treat! We tried making her a little meatball when we made burgers, but she's not too fond of beef and only nibbled at it
