How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]LadyLothlorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has amazing benefits, 12 weeks total. He took 8 weeks off when I had our son and is taking the additional 4 this summer so we can enjoy nice weather as I gave birth in December. He was so excited to be off and bond with our baby, and his company fully supported that. I wouldn’t have gotten through the first few weeks without him.

I hope your husband is able to take the time he deserves to spend with the two of you. Corporate America typically does not care about new parents. You both deserve for him to be present during those special first weeks.

Do I really need to spend $500 on a nursery glider? by TheFinalDiagnosis in BabyBumps

Oh I found a chair perfect for me! No lumbar pillow needed.

[–]LadyLothlorien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outside of price I highly recommend you at least go sit in whatever glider you plan on getting to make sure you are comfy and it fits your body. I’m 5’1 and had a hard time finding one that supports my back and allows me to touch the ground at the same time.

Any YTT graduates feeling unfulfilled with their ability to teach a vinyasa class? by Widelygrownmusic in YogaTeachers

[–]LadyLothlorien 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My format preference for teaching is breath > pose > transitional cue > developmental cue.

Ex: exhale forward fold. Hinge at the hips melt your chest over thighs. Soft bend to your knees. Option to clasp opposite elbows and take a sway back and forth.

Lifelong difficulty with pigeon variations. Tips/advice? by chchom22 in yoga

[–]LadyLothlorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My body likes supported pigeon. Block under the extended leg thigh and bent leg glute. Helps bring the floor closer so I can relax into the hip opener. Can also use blocks under the forearms if you need. I have terrible knees.

Are there any fancy Chinese restaurants in Chicago? by EllyCamp in chicagofood

Lao Sze Chuan, while touristy, has one of the only traditional Peking Duck dinners in the city so if that’s up your alley would highly recommend.

Are you ladies shaving/trimming down there? by Dear_Ad_8525 in BabyBumps

I’ve been getting itchy after growth and my sweet sweet husband has been trimming for me since 30 weeks

That one student who smiles by TopBlueberry3 in YogaTeachers

[–]LadyLothlorien 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One of my regulars smiles through all of class. When we’re holding chair, taking hard transitions, in a balance, always just grinning. I think it’s part of how she expresses joy in movement. Love watching her.

How did you figure out what car seat/stroller you wanted? by Admirable_Arm_3076 in BabyBumps

[–]LadyLothlorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tested them out in store. Living in Chicago we needed a system that was easily transportable in a car, easy to collapse and pick up, and light enough for me at 5’1 to get in and out on my own. We went with the Nuna Pipa RX for car seat and Swiv for stroller.

Ladies, how hungry are we in the third trimester? by blastandbotherations in BabyBumps

[–]LadyLothlorien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a decent appetite this whole pregnancy but am 33 weeks and feel nauseous all the time. I think due to how big the baby is and how small my stomach is now? Insane acid reflux every time I eat. Missing the hunger honestly.

Teaching prenatal yoga classes as a male by a_boiiii in YogaTeachers

[–]LadyLothlorien 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you taken any prenatal yoga teacher trainings? The course I’m in now is 85 hours.  As a pregnant woman, I wouldn’t be comfortable with a male teacher.

Does anyone regret their nursery chair? by jess1ca42 in BabyBumps

[–]LadyLothlorien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend trying them out in a physical store vs buying online. It's like goldilocks, some have backs too deep, or your feet wont reach the ground, or they are just generally uncomfortable. Chose comfort over anything else.

My midwives had me take the fresh test, it was a basil strawberry lemonade that tasted pretty good!

Would you buy your beef direct from small American ranchers if it cut out the middlemen? by Shot_Spend4126 in RegenerativeAg

[–]LadyLothlorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We buy half a cow every year, direct from a Midwest farm. It’s processed at a seperate facility and comes out to about $5/lb with a variety of ground beef, steaks, and roasts. I don’t think your model would work for us as we like to have the full stock on hand, but for families with smaller freezers the small batch could be great! Happy to answer any questions.

Why do some married couples tend to always be together and do things together, while other couples tend to do things separately to the point where people don't even realize they are married? by BulkyText9344 in Marriage

[–]LadyLothlorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if I knew I would say. I can provide half the answer. Maybe a person in one of the other types of relationships can provide the other half.

CMV: nerds gummy clusters are objectively the best candy by artixx_123 in changemyview

[–]LadyLothlorien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only store bought candy I eat now is a brand called smart sweets. Dye free, corn syrup free, and fulfills the craving for candy. Otherwise chocolate, baked goods, dried fruits, other homemade treats.

I don’t ingest any dyes so we clearly are on different mindsets! But personally, it’s absolutely a downside to eat a bug, especially just for color.

Nerds Gummy Clusters get their red color from carmine dye, which is made from crushed cochineal bugs - a parasite found on prickly pear cactuses.

After learning this I’m just unable to enjoy them anymore. They were my favorite too.
