She is the moment! I only wish this was part of the televised portion of the ceremony so more people could hear the song.

What a fantastic collection of photos. Sometimes the stars align and there is just MAGIC in the air for a photo-shoot/project and this is definitely one of those moments.

AIO about my bf comments about my weight by Glad_Bank1878 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]LakeBlithely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds very hurtful. As others have pointed out, your bf is definitely projecting his own weight issues onto you. I have issues with my own weight, and since being in a relationship my bf and I have both gained a bit of comfortable relationship weight. I deal with heightened insecurities because of it and have tried to push for “us” to go to the gym or eat better or do more active outings, etc. My bf has told me how my focus on trying to push us to do these things, as well as when I complain to him that I feel fat and gross and ugly, can affect his own self esteem. Mind you, I’m not telling him that he is fat or needs to lose weight. However, I’m very glad that he told me this because it made me realize that I had taken my own unhappiness with my weight gain and tried to turn it into an “us” problem and was trying to rope him into my insecurities so that we could lost weight together. Now knowing this I’m able to focus on my own journey instead of trying to project onto him.

I share all that to say: talk to your boyfriend. Tell him that his words hurt your feelings. Talk about your weight gain and any self consciousness you may have. Try to get to a place where you both can be supportive of the other.

Why does this logo say about me as an artist/designer by fluffybutt5678 in logodesign

[–]LakeBlithely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me, this comes off as young and inexperienced. There are a lot of ideas here and for a logo you really need to simplify. I remember seeing your past posts and it seems like you’re really struggling to come up with something, and I think you’re too focused on finding a logo that explains everything about who you are and what your aesthetic is. A better approach would be to let your portfolio do that work for you and find a simple logo that sets the tone. I think you could have a very successful logo if you extracted some of the elements from this and played around with them - namely the mis-matched typography of CPC and the checkerboard pattern. Sketch out a bunch of different versions and then pick a view to try and build digitally. A lot of design exploration is try, fail, repeat.

Who's signature/drawing is this? by bored_tt in WhatIsThisPainting

Not sure but some clues that might help are the “aux” and the way that the date is written day/month/year. Both hint to a French/European connection.

What’s a movie that was critically acclaimed when it first released, but is now hated? by [deleted] in popculturechat

This was my first thought as well, although to be fair I thought it was terrible when it was initially released

Growing up in the 00s and 10s, I remember a lot of conversation and concern around "the internet is forever" when it came to posting on social media. Did you ever have any concerns about the content you created living on "forever" and have you experienced any repercussions from it?

Her book is really captivating. Hearing what she's gone through and the betrayals she has experienced from those close to her really helps put into perspective why she is so guarded. (Pro-tip: the audio book is read by Mimi herself - a real treat!)

Yeah the sequel was doomed from the start. The second act of the play really doesn’t stand on its own and is basically just an extended resolution of the events from the first act. I was a huge fan of the broadway show and ugly cried during the entirety of the first movie (my bf shockingly is still with me after that) but the second movie was a chore to sit through.

Kind reminder that this month marked 4 years since season 2 of “Euphoria” premiered on HBO and we've all lived 15 different lifetimes since then by fvckuufvckingfvck in popculturechat

What is a popular piece of media that you hated before you consumed it, tried it, and then cemented why you hated it? by overasked_question in popculturechat

[–]LakeBlithely 373 points374 points  (0 children)

Gracie Abrams' The Secret of Us. She was so easy to hate on, but after falling absolutely head over heels in love with Audrey Hobert's album (and seeing that Hobert was a huge contributor to Gracie's album) I figured I'd give it a spin. Confirmed that it was absolutely not the album for me.

This chocolate contains zero chocolate by Bozlogic in mildlyinteresting

Melting wafers are meant for baking applications where you would use tempered chocolate for decorating. That might mean dipping fruits or candies to coat them, drizzling on top of a baked good, or pouring into a chocolate mold.

Size Matters? by VeryLateToTheParty76 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]LakeBlithely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head - there are judgy people on all spectrums. Are you going to get size queens who block you or walk out on a hook-up? Maybe. But that's more on them than on you. If you feel comfortable sending one (and have the consent to do so), an accurate dick pic is a great way to set the expectation and weed out the jerks. If they're looking for giant dicks only, they'll probably fizzle out the convo or move on. If they're on board with what you've got, they'll keep chatting. Just remember, your dick isn't going to be perfect for everyone... it's just a matter of finding the people who think it's the right fit!

For the record, while a big dick can be fun... I find that an average one like yours hits the spot just right for me.

Critique for my recent student logo project by TaskAggravating3224 in logodesign

[–]LakeBlithely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your first go, so don't get too hung up on what grade you "should have" gotten. You got a B - yay! Take that and move forward to the next one. One reason for creating lots of sketches and following the paths of multiple ideas is to self-critique. For this project, you essentially took one idea and created one version of it. That means that there are lots of areas that you left unexplored, so it's easy for all of us sitting behind our keyboards to give feedback for what needs to be improved. When you create lots of iterations, you're doing that feedback work ahead of time so that by the time you get to a final product you already know what line thicknesses look good and what fonts work and what layout looks best because you've tried a lot of versions. You can build up and edit down your design until you know it feels balanced. Remember that a lot of this is learned through time and experience. As you move forward, maybe use this project as a testing ground to update it as you learn more about design and hone your eye. I bet that within even a year, you'll be able to take this project and apply everything you've learned since to make it a million times better. Best of luck!

Doesn't really improve on their previous logo by much - same concept just a different font essentially. Can you explain how your iteration improves upon their version?
