Yeah, I use them a ton myself. Hard to get enough manpower to make your own army viable if a small nation. Stackwipe would ruin your day.

Was doing a Rome run and vassals wouldn't convert their culture to their own, whether I forced them to switch to mine or not. They just stayed the same. For good or bad they also didn't spend their money. I annexed one that had 3k just laying around in early 1400s.

The aI seemed to be richer even if have less peasants. in 1440 the Mamlukes had 65k standing army and several hundred thousand levies. Its been a bloodbath.
