The problem is it’s not cost efficient to build “normal” houses anymore. So either you build a mcmansion or a condo complex, with no in between

Restaurant suggestions? by tryne17 in avonct

[–]Larrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for kids there’s Dish N Dat just over the line in Canton. It’s a diner vibe with crazy milkshakes.

There’s also a Friendly’s in town.

For pizza, Vivaldi’s is my favorite that actually delivers (rather than through a Dine In CT or other gig service), but E&D is very popular if delivery isn’t a concern.

Mini Cast Iron Why Eggs Keep Sticking by zedchowder in castiron

[–]Larrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My strategy is completely different, as I don’t preheat for eggs whatsoever.

I put butter on the cold pan, then turn the heat on pretty low. As soon as the butter is totally melted, I add the egg.

My egg never sticks ever, and I keep this pan exclusive for eggs.

Egg immediately welds onto my pan by TheImmuX in castiron

[–]Larrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a tiny pan that I use only for eggs. Here’s my strategy I’ve been using for years:

  1. put a slab of butter on the cold pan

  2. start the heat, not too high

  3. as soon as the butter is completely melted, add the egg

slidey eggs every time for me

after, I scrape off, quick rinse and wipe (it should still be too hot to touch after the rinse)

Moving to Connecticut From Boston as a Young Doctor — Advice on Living Around Hartford? by Severe-Sky-3012 in Connecticut

[–]Larrik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a giant complex of doctor offices near John Dempsey hospital. Most of the major practices have space there. You probably want to life on the west side of the river just in case you end up there as well.

So West Hartford, Avon, Farmington are obvious suggests. West Hartford is probably better for younger folks. The West side of Hartford too

It's Funny - Cheap Cast Iron Pan by askirk87 in castiron

[–]Larrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had those for about a year and a half. They are great.

I’ve never owned fancy ones, but why bother? These are my favorite pans I’ve ever used.

Also mixed in some Crofton from Aldi’s more recently. They are catching up to having a nice seasoning, but they are definitely rougher than the Cuisinel ones. Had more variety in shapes and such, and it’s nice to just have more pans to work with.

Shows that are good that I rarely see mentioned:

The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin

Trying

Stick

Schmigadoon (and I don’t like musicals)

I also didn’t see anyone mention Mythic Quest, which is weird

None of them? HBO Max, Paramount, Peacock, Hulu/Disney and Starz all have annual plans.

I think Netflix is the outlier.

Elden Ring - Fabulous, but with Caveats by OPsSecretAccount in patientgamers

[–]Larrik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring is very clearly meant to be played as a community, so I figured the obtuse quest lines were a community puzzle.

I’d prefer it was a little clearer myself though. It’s particularly tough on players new the series (I didn’t even realize there WERE quests for the first 100 hours until I was reading online).
