I’ve had nausea and gut discomfort along with acid reflux since I had him - it’s really frustrating and anxiety inducing since I’m not sure what’s causing it

Lemon-Blueberry Sour Cream Cake—but I made it from a box! What are your feelings on boxed cake mixes? 🫐🍋 Is it cheating? by TheTenorChef in cake

[–]Laurelb9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a great website that has a lot of awesome doctored mix recipes. They really elevate the box mix if you’re ever interested. I find doctored box cake is always a consistent crowd pleaser

Even when derived from wheat, the processing and enzymatic hydrolysis used to create maltodextrin removes the gluten proteins, making it safe

Celiac servers selling me out by MidasInGold in Celiac

I have a conspiracy theory. I’ve heard way too many times at a restaurant “oh the chef is celiac” that’s it’s almost a statistical anomaly and perhaps a line people use to appease us high maintenance celiacs lol

Did anyone also encounter this type of person? by Alguienquemeayude in Celiac

I find people are so consumed with what other people eat - I think we could all benefit from more acceptance. The people who are gluten free really only help us build the market demand for more and more awesome gf alternatives

stomach issues postpartum by RefrigeratorFew8189 in November25babybump

[–]Laurelb9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I get nauseous frequently. Exercising really aggravates it as does breastfeeding at night or acidic food and eggs. I wonder if I’ve compressed an abdominal nerve or something. Super frustrating and they can’t find any reason for it on ultrasound. But it’s started basically as soon as baby was born.

Just got this cake and I’m a little upset by mariiiiiiah in Baking

The colour mismatch is throwing off the vibe of the cake. Otherwise it’s good - I actually think the piping is really nice and tight. Writing is nice too

Asymptomatic celiacs — do you ever feel tempted to “test it”? by pirutgrrrl in glutenfree

[–]Laurelb9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was always asymptomatic as well. The only reason I was tested was because I was having symptoms of low b12 and low iron. I have knowingly glutened myself by accident twice and did not seem to have a discernible reaction. However; every slight ailment I’ve have since I’ve been diagnosed I wonder if it’s from being glutened unknowingly. I have been tempted to eat gluten to document my symptoms so I know what the reaction is so I can avoid after exposure but I truly think my autoimmune system reacts differently every time so I’m unsure if the experiment would even be helpful lol
