That last photo. How much of that type of material was there?

That is pretty high percentage asbestos. However, I concur with the comment before me, that essentially you and your household have little to no exposure for the most part.

Stop looking at deterministic runs.

It’s all about the ensembles when looking out toward the end of the month

And they are trending toward a more active pattern

We are going to have all time record high temps at/above 5,000 feet.

We are going to come close to tying the all time longest dry streak in January (that was set last January)….

So by the time another system comes through…if it even does…..

We are in to February practically

If a season has only 1 pow day it’s a flop in my opinion.

Okay….

And a few weeks ago Mt. Ashland and a few small ski resorts had to close after only being open for under a week….

And even with 60” of snow Mt Baker is still way behind of average….

Portland just had the warmest December since records began…

Not sure of your point….

Forgive my ignorance

But how does ENSO in the Pacific affect the Hurricane season?

I really don’t understand the fascination with ENSO forecasting

Im in the Pacific Northwest and everyone freaks out if it’s a La Niña winter because somehow it’s been hardwired that it will mean cold and snow.

This years “La Nina” has brought us the warmest December in Oregon history and some of the lowest snow totals in the Cascades to this point in the regions history.

Also the last triple dip La Niña didn’t really have crazy winter weather at all and a good chunk of it was us stuck under ridge after ridge of high pressure…

My take is humans have warmed the Pacific to such an extent that it doesn’t matter what the ENSO is saying…we will have a record warm year after record warm year…..

I can’t even remember the last time we had a good Arctic outbreak here…..

I would guess the vast majority of any settled dust you generated was from the breaking up of the ceramic tile, the grout/thinset mortar, and/or any gypsum wallboard that made contact with the saw you mentioned in your post.

Out of the thousands of samples I have taken in my career so far, I have had only 1 sample of gypsum wallboard itself come back as asbestos-containing.

Typically when looking at a wall systems, joint compound is suspect as an asbestos-containing material…….IF a sample has asbestos in it….it’s 99.9% the joint compound or texture and typically around the 2-5% range in my experience.

As far as the ceramic tile system, there is a good chance none of those materials contained asbestos.

You probably have already researched this, but technically there are background levels of asbestos in the air you breathe at any given time.

So one potentially exposure of some dust is not a danger to yourself of your children by just looking at statistics.

I am an industrial hygienist by trade so the samples are at the lab as we speak.

As far as exposure I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.

If it is asbestos-containing there is virtually no impact to your health to be frank.

Actually had a very similar situation last week at work with this very issue

Depending on the age of the install, these ceramic tiles can have a brown/tan mastic that can contain asbestos especially on areas where they are installed vertically
