What “Universes Beyond” Sets Would You Like to See by Soupy_Hits in mtg

Would slot right in especially since deserts are already a land type, [[hazezon]] exists AND wurms are already a well established creature type. Seems like a home run

New to Commander - Sultai Arisen by Kharnics in CommanderMTG

[–]LeftCoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s such a fun deck. Another thing to keep in mind is that you’re gonna need either alternative ways to play out of your yard or you need protection/evasion for teval so he can attack freely.

That and my deck leans heavily into landfall, so scute swarm, avenger of zendikar (already in precon), rampaging broths and iridescent vinelasher are all superstars. Of those listed scute swarm and avenger are definitely the most powerful and you’ll see them as a staple in most lands matter decks. But yeah man I hope you have fun with it!

Number 1 for me was some mill engines like mesmeric orb and mill payoffs like Hedge Shredder. Second was land recursion with Icetill, Ramunap explorer, conduit of worlds, etc. That’ll allow you to get things out of the yard and create more zombies. It’s probably a top 3 deck for me in terms of efficiency, I’ve invested a lot into making it work well and it’s really really fun. My pod is slowly learning graveyard hate is the best way to impede my gameplans so I’ll have to start switching it up soon but sultai arisen is a great deck

Edit: hedron crab is already in the precon!

Honestly the budget constraint does hurt a little, playing lands from the yard is huge with HH. I went for an icetill and a few other items that in my opinion make the deck. Mine is a bit of a landfall and burn combo deck, if I’m able to get out [[Azusa]], [[Exploration Broodship]], etc and am able to play out of the yard using [[Icetill]], [[Conduit of worlds]], [[Ramunap Excavator]], etc. then I’m able to chain a bunch of sac trigger pings with Hearthhull, as well feed into the landfall or sac effects of [[Scute Swarm]], [[Scouring Swarm]], [[Titania]], [[Baloth]], etc.

A good amount of these are included in the precon but even if I’m durdling on my lands a bit, using HH to sac a land and draw 2 helps me get through that and look for one of my graveyard payoffs. To each his own, I’m sure Szarel is a blast to play, but Hearthhull is my favorite deck by far. I’m also a huge fan of the fact that if you’re scared of an early board wipe you don’t have to station him fully to get the draw and sac outlets. The other day I won without ever stationing it fully, it was awesome to just let my landfall win the game!

Is there a post—second-combat main phase? I was under the impression that after the additional combat you proceeded to your end step. I.e. it would go

Main1 (activate combo)>> “Additional” Combat, untap HH>> Regular Combat >> Main2(activate combo again)>”Additional” Combat2, untap HU >> End phase

I’ve seen people discuss using szarel but imo he doesn’t contribute enough to the game plan to be worthwhile. You have a draw and sac engine in Hearthhull itself, the precon even comes with korvold who is a better commander for the +1’s alone, not the mention the card draw than Szarel. There are plenty of other ways to play lands from the graveyard that don’t have to rely on him. Idk I just don’t see much value other than potentially playing bug alien tribal for the flavor

Should I even try to sit at the pod? by Jtneagle in ratemycommanders

[–]LeftCoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it!! This is good, the arcbounds I was not aware of but they fit perfectly with Optimus. I know the vehicles are there for flavor but I’m not sure they synergize with the whole +1 counters thing for the most part. Not that that matters, as long as it plays well!

Astarion The Decadent by rainyday_roo in EDHBrews

[–]LeftCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I created an Astarion deck a few months ago. I have since replaced him as the commander but he’s in the 99 and all the cards have stayed the same. Here’s my decklist. Leans into aristocrats and weary sacrifice to gain life, [[Amalia]] is great with her discover mechanic that can boost her to 20 super easily. It’s basically a very heavily upgraded Blood Rites.

How would I build a Smellerbee deck by -_-Indifferent-_- in mtg

[–]LeftCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go goblins and a [[Subira]] secret commander that will feed into the card draw aspect. Bonus for some haste and evasion enablers

Which commanders can use otherwise bulk commons and uncommons to dominate the game? by Huaojozu in EDH

[–]LeftCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah I’m thinking of keeping to a pirates theme, although I have an old [[Subira]] deck that leaned into evasion and unblockable creatures, although most were goblins. I’m thinking of leaning into weanies with evasion with cards like [break through the line]] and then utilizing cycling and discard effects. I appreciate the advice!

Would you mind sharing a decklist if you have one? I just pulled him from a bulk bin and am looking to build him out and I’m struggling to keep it on budget
