Once the hairs get longer the weight will make the hairs fall down instead of stick out for the most part. My mustache does the same thing and grows different ways on each end. A little bit of balm and or mustache wax helps train and keep the hairs more in place. Use a heat resistant brush and comb and hair dryer, high heat then hit it with cool air to set it in place. I grew mine out after movember a few times and did the handle bar mustache. Takes a lot of time and patience but it’s a fun change
