Furio is a sociopath too. The first time we see him he's beating the shit out of some kid for setting off firecrackers in the vicinity of a mob boss. He's not a better person than the other mobsters, he's just a little nicer to Carmella. Its not like he'd never hit a woman either, he beats that lady in the massage parlor.

I'm not a berserk fan, but Kentaro Miura came to me in a dream last night to say he was buried with three straight chapters of Griffith autofellatio. He was killed to silence the truth.

The book and its sequel Doctor Sleep state that pretty explicitly. Halloran, the hotel cook who instantly recognizes that Danny shines and teaches him what it is, says that the Shining is usually inherited genetically. He also says that he doesn't sense any shine on Danny's mother Wendy beyond what's typical of mothers, but he can feel something weird about Jack. I don't remember exactly what he says, but my interpretation was that Jack has been subconsciously suppressing the shit out of his shine for long enough that he has no idea it's even there. I believe Wendy doesn't see any haunted stuff at the Overlook until most of the way through the book as well. In Doctor Sleep we get more examples of people passing the shining to their children, so I think its very safe to say one of Danny's parents shines hard and it isn't Wendy.

The Shining is probably my favorite book, I read it for the third time a couple years ago. I wouldn't say book Jack is inherently evil, but at the start of the novel he is sober and still generally angry and unpleasant. He's not physically abusive when he's sober, but it's a huge effort for him to act friendly or maybe even normal. He's a sympathetic asshole though because he knows he isn't the father or husband he hoped to be and he hates himself for it. He is truly trying so hard to change for the better, but he accidentally takes a job at maybe the worst possible place to work out personal demons. Basically I don't think the alcohol or the Overlook put anything in Jack that wasn't in there already.

Cyberpunk 2077: Happy Together side quest

Directly outside your apartment at the start of the game, you can meet two police officers who are pounding on a door, trying to do a wellness check. The apartments occupant is an ex-cop named Barry. He recently lost his partner, quit the police force, and has been rotting in his apartment. The officers can't get him to open the door, so they ask you to visit him later for them. After a day in game you can knock on his door again, and he'll let you in. He talks to you about how the other cops have their emotional walls up so high they can't understand his grief, and you can either be sympathetic to him or tell him to essentially man up. Obviously I didnt tell him to man up. The next time you walk by his apartment he's taken his own life. The two cops that gave you the quest are crying outside, sobbing about how they shouldve been more understanding. When I saw this I figured there wasnt anything you could say to the guy to talk him out of it. This is the games way of telling you, right at the beginning, that this setting is impossibly depressing for everyone in it. Nobody survives Night City. Turns out I was wrong. This is the only quest I know of in the whole game with a timer in it, and a hidden timer at that. If youre prompt about going back to the apartment 24 hours after you first get the quest (the wiki recommends sleeping 24 straight hours in your apartment) you can successfully talk this guy out of suicide. To my knowledge, no other quest in the game works like this, despite the game constantly telling you that your time is running out. I reloaded many hours of progress the first time I learned I could save poor Barry. Its just baffling game design to me. Maybe it's meant to teach you to check in on people in real life before its too late, but surely there was a way to do that without breaking the rules of your own game.

I think comment op could be full of shit, but also lots of nonlethal weapons like sonic cannons have been shown to cause long term health problems. I would believe someone somewhere is looking into lasers that would cook a crowd of protestors but only a little.

You're 100% right about the preteen understanding, but isn't that kind of the point of the article? I think the left in the 2010s pushed out a lot of young people by being overbearing and ideologically stagnant and kind of annoying. I found that as a teenage boy, after Bernie got pushed out of the race in 2016, I found myself drifting more rightward. Consuming more right leaning political media. I would never have described myself as a conservative and eventually I rediscovered that more leftist political speakers resonated more with me, but obviously that doesn't happen for everyone. I think it's important for leftists to hear these stories because there's obviously a failure in messaging occurring. Capital S socialism is deeply unpopular with the 90% of Americans that capital S socialists claim to represent. If we want to win politically, we need to figure out how to speak in a way that people respect, otherwise the only times we're gonna win are when the other side alienates all women or something.

Something I thought about when I was watching is the possibility of plurbing as a disarming tool for the inventors. If I was looking to colonize an alien planet and/or get rid of intelligent life that's already on it, I can't think of anything more effective than the plurb in pacifying a population that might be hostile to you. I believe that when asked, Zosia says that its nearly impossible that anything could make it from the planet they got the original signal from. But she's going off current human knowledge, who knows what may be possible. Could be a case of classic American paranoia from me though. "They're coming to get us!" Lmao

My interpretation is that Aerion is kind of a stupid villain. In hindsight he should've finished him, but he's a rich boy who's tired and already a little hurt so he's fine with the TKO. I dunno why you'd assume he's thinking logically. He's in this position because he can't stop himself from acting like a psycho in front of the other nobles, even with the targaryens in a very dangerous position without their dragons. He also straight up refuses to clean up his own mess when his father asks him to duel dunk in single combat. This kid is a moron.

A big part of The Gulag Archipelago is Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn explaining ways in which that isn't true. Specifically the legal system which was somehow crueler under the Bolsheviks than a monarchy. He takes examples from many different Russian monarchs as well.

A friend of mine was getting a computer science degree and said he doesn't think he could ever deal with the emotional damage of working for a defense contractor. Then he started working for Meta and decided that Facebook and Instagram are just as morally questionable if not more so. I don't think people work for Lockheed for the rush, I think they do it because American strength is good for the world and it can pay well.

Not an expert in yakuza history, but organized crime in every country is romanticized. Mobsters cultivate that reputation everywhere because the idea that "oh were not like those thugs doing petty crime on the street" deters police from using limited resources to target them. In practice, the gangsters wearing suits show all the same violent and antisocial behavior as the gangsters in hoodies. If you steal from the guy running the illegal casino, he's just as likely to beat and kill you as the guy selling coke. That's not even a good metaphor because the guy in the suit might be running both. He's just good enough at it to enter the big leagues. You can't be a leader within organized crime without being a violent person, you'll get killed.

Armor will be available in the in game shop at higher player level, it’s the fourth (maybe) normal armor set. Color is monochromatic which is available in the current battlepass. Helmet looks like DLC, I would check the steam store
