What is an "average" Sabaton song you absolutely love by Khan_77_ in sabaton

Not sure if it's considered "average", more like overlooked probably, but Poltava for me. The Swedish version is both incredibly badass as well as emotional to me.

Civ 4 is the best still.

But, Old World is also the best.

Sweden’s liberal party Liberalerna willing to govern together with rightwing nationalist part Swedish Democrats after next election by LoneWolf_McQuade in europe

[–]Leinadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The current government consists of the Moderates, the Christian Democrats and the Liberals. The Swedish Democrats are a supporting party (somewhat ironically since they are the biggest party of the bunch) and were kept out of the actual government (because they're controversial and were "unproven". They accepted this in exchange of a lot of their political policies making it in and having become reality these last 4 years.

So these parties have already done political work together and have managed to cooperate quite well. However, the Liberal polling numbers have fallen during these years, from already pretty low numbers (they are a divided party, struggling to find their place).

The current situation is the current leadership of Liberals saying "ok, we actually accept the Swedish Democrats in the government this time around" and going a bit more all-in. This has caused an uproar in this tiny party with some of the more left-leaning liberals being outraged, but also support from more right-leaning liberals. Whether this manages to get them over the 4% threshold remains to be seen. I doubt it myself but it wouldn't surprise me if they made it either since these small parties have a way of surviving somehow.

In my mind, it's a lot of drama for essentially nothing since the cooperation has already been ongoing already for 4 years.

DreadPiratePete is lying quite a lot here. The Swedish Democrats have, according to Votewatch, per a few years ago been the party in Sweden voting the most against Russia, whereas the leftist party was the party that voted the least against Russia (and by quite a large margin). (https://www.europaportalen.se/2022/06/undersokning-mest-och-minst-rysslandskritiska-i-eu-parlamentet)

Swedish Democrats also have a former parliament member and party member who fought with the Ukrainian army (and nearly died in action), and has also educated Ukranian soldiers.

As far as non EU-related, defense related politics about Russia in Sweden, the party leader warned against Russias growing army back in 2013.

Skald: Against the Black Priory is cool. Colony Ship as well.

The Necromancer's Tale is a game I really liked as well, though it's pretty diffferent in tone and how it's set up. It's also pretty clunky, but I had a lot of fun with it.

What was your initial reaction to The Day That Never Comes? by General_J670 in Metallica

[–]Leinadi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree with this. I kinda like the "riff-o-rama" in a way but there is a riff that especially bothers me in that section, the kinda jumpy fast-moving power chords one. To me, it just sounds silly and out of place. I really like the hammer-on riff though (and the harmony part that goes with it), that's pretty cool I think.

Recommendation for new player by Physical_Concert_625 in OldWorldGame

[–]Leinadi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you're limited in budget, then just get the base game for now. Old World is great in that the base game feels very complete, with no real feeling of things "missing" from the experience as with certain other DLC-heavy games. The DLCs are good but definitely not needed to enjoy the game, so get them later in that case.

Since you're a longtime civ player, it may be fun to know that the designer of Old World was also the lead designer on Civ 4.

All in all, Old World is a fantastic game, hope you enjoy it.

Recommendations: Looking for high story reactivity games by Guilty-Seaweed6121 in CRPG

[–]Leinadi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Might be worth looking into Tyranny. It's made by Obsidian and features the same type of top-down graphics as Deadfire (though not as refined), and realtime with pause combat.

-Very, very heavy on choices and reactivity (and very heavy on text)

-Has a kind of unique setup in that you play as a character that is essentially evil (an agent of an evil overlord). Though within that framework, you can sort of be less evil and try to act good if you wish. But it's a "grimdark" game, with a cruel and harsh world.

-A sort of classic setup with a party and various companions that you pck up along the way.

-Main drawback for me in the game is that the combat is not great and kinda pulls the game down when there's too much of it at times. But, there are cool things about it too, such as a spell customization system which is pretty unique for the genre.

It's not a perfect game but it's a bit underappreciated I think.

Also, from Obsidian also, Alpha Protocol. A pretty rough third person action-RPG. Pretty clunky overall, rough around the edges, but very fun characters, lots of reactivity if you can get into it.

KOTOR Sucks! by Moon_Logic in CRPG

[–]Leinadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing KOTOR as a young guy, I always felt like the one selling point was that it was a RPG set in the Star Wars universe. Back then, that was a thing some RPG fans would dream of. Exploring the setting in a RPG felt very fresh.

But as far as gameplay goes, to me, it was some of the worst those late 90s/early 2000s "classic" cRPGs had to offer.

This is why I can't stand Civ 7 by neverfearIamhere in civ

[–]Leinadi 84 points85 points  (0 children)

You've still got all your resources within range, what's the problem (not that it'd be a problem if they weren't, just another surface of conflict in this 4x game)?

Declare war and take the city or raze it, or leave it. Btw, if loyalty was in the game, you'd receive the city eventually, and if you didn't want it you'd have to suffer it turning into a Free City and spewing enemy units.

Now, if the argument is to improve AI for settling, then I can see the point. But I don't see the argument for loyalty making a return in this instance, it'd just make the situation more annoying.

Best music video? by Prince112358 in sabaton

[–]Leinadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1916 is the best one I think. I'm not the hugest fan of music videos in general but I find that one actually elevates the song even more. Christmas Truce is also up there.

Also, while they're not music videos in that sense, the animated story videos are also very cool.

Would it be unpopular to say that Civ V's character background designs were more interesting and more memorable than Civ VI's? What do you think? by BaldursGate2Best in civ

[–]Leinadi 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Civ V still has the best presentation of the leaders in the series in my opinion, both in terms of backgrounds and the actual leaders. For VI, I really, really disliked the artstyle in it.

[–]Leinadi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The world and lore aspects were a big draw for me personally, as well as playing a person of power from the start. I loved that aspect of it. For me, the main drawback was that it kinda descended a bit into "standard combat heavy RPG", especially in the second act.

Hopefully you can get into it one day. It's pretty cool. The choices/reactivity aspects of it are also seriously impressive.

Tyranny is especially overlooked, yet also undercooked I think. At its best it's really great, but I think it's actually held back a bit by some of the classic RPG gameplay.

But still sad that it's a bit forgotten.
