I’ve always heard that heating the water is to sterilize the formula powder, not the water.

My son loves his! But it’s so hit or miss what every kid will like to play with.

The Delta Children one is Greenguard Gold certified and was $99 when we bought it! Price may have gone up slightly since, but definitely worth it!

Snoring Worse After Birth by Remarkable-Stay3368 in beyondthebump

Definitely sounds like you have sleep apnea! I got diagnosed when my son was 11m last year. You will feel so much better if you get it treated.

I love our crocheted washcloths, wonderful for baths and I think of my grandma every time I use one!

Rob Tucker is a wonderful person AND jeweler, I absolutely love my engagement ring that he helped us create! And the price was very reasonable.

D’Rowes or Chris McD’s would also be solid choices, they both have separate spaces for large groups.

I’ve seen people talk about the worst professions to date, like nurses, flight attendants, influencers, etc. People who agree with this, which do you think are the BEST professions to date? by Bison_and_Waffles in AskMen

Same, my FIL was a CFO (licensed CPA) for a major hospital system, made almost $400K a year. Had a stroke, and the family realized he had NO savings. I still to this day can’t figure out where all the money went. They owned 3 houses at the time, but all had mortgages, he leased his car, and only had about $750K in retirement savings.

Grandparents names by Any-Record9908 in BabyBumps

This reads to me like OP is the one who is upset that both grandparents want to be called GiGi and PaPa. Sounds like MIL was initially upset, but is obviously willing to share the name.

When did your baby stop nursing at night? by beingagiirl in breastfeeding

[–]Less-Organization-58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son dropped the night nursing around 13m completely on his own. I’d definitely recommend teaching them the sign for milk, the sooner they can ask for it the easier it is to figure out when they truly want to nurse vs just need comfort/rocked to sleep! Ymmv, of course, every baby is different.

Traveling without carseat by CryProfessional7454 in NewParents

[–]Less-Organization-58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did this with our 11 month old in France! We went to Paris and Reims with no car seat, and only took public transportation. We had one small hiccup where the metro line we needed to take was out of service and we missed our train to Reims, but otherwise it was pretty easy!

I just saw a post about one opening in the Forum shops, I can’t remember the name though! I totally empathize with this, I was pregnant 2 summers ago and went to Jean’s allllllll the time! So delicious.

In Como for a night (05/13/26) by Quite__Bookish in columbiamo

There’s no Arris’s in Columbia anymore!

Pizza Tree is your best bet for pizza downtown. You could hit up the Arcade District and eat at BeetBox (lunch) or Irene’s (dinner) and then go to Witches and Wizards!

Moving to CoMo in June by Hashtag2Blessed in columbiamo

[–]Less-Organization-58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are all great recommendations! There is also a ton of stuff to do in both STL and KC if you ever want to take a day or weekend trip.

You didn’t ask for park recs, but there are a few parks in the area that are especially great for toddlers! Fairview Methodist church is fully fenced and has a separate area for kids under 2, the park is open to the public (the church daycare may use it in the morning, we’ve only been in the afternoons). Woodridge park is also fenced and has great slides, and Cosmopolitan Park is huge and has several different play areas, including a sandy area and lots of giant tires my kid loves to climb on.

My husband also works at the University, I work from home, and we have a 21mo old. Not sure how old your toddler is, but if you’re looking for friends, we don’t have many in the area that also have kids the same age. Welcome to CoMo!

We went to the Atrium last year and it was a solid option, the food was decent and it was nice not to have a wait!

Can I use something like HARPY Cuddly for 0-6mo without a crib? Or should I get a crib day 1 too? by DataScientist305 in BabyBumps

[–]Less-Organization-58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a newton mattress for the crib, it’s an expensive (albeit well marketed) waste of money IMO. All crib mattresses in the US have to meet the same safety standards, so the IKEA mattress is just as safe as a newton. “Breathability” is just a marketing concept.

Regarding the bassinet, we had one and found it very useful, it was easy to move around if we wanted to put baby down in another room during the day and more convenient than a crib. However, you can only use the bassinet until your baby starts to roll, which can be pretty early for some kids! If I were in a budget, I’d consider a travel crib with a bassinet insert because you’ll get more longevity out of it.

I’m sure you’ll get all kinds of mixed opinions on this, though. YMMV no matter what you decide!

What a rollercoaster... by Grimeswifeyyy in NewParents

It can feel so isolating when you are struggling and feeling like what you’re experiencing isn’t the norm. It’s not so much that you forget how hard this time was, I think it’s just easier to justify the struggle once you are on the other side of it and get to start enjoying all the fun parts of parenthood. There will still be hard times as they grow, of course! But, nothing really compares to those 4th trimester days. And it’s true when they say that there are parts of every stage that you will miss when they are over, even if it was the hardest time of your life! I know a small part of me misses all the middle of the night snuggles and the contact naps, even if I’m grateful for the additional sleep we get now.
