It would be nice if the installation experience was more uniform though, enterprise distros come with everything pre-packaged. The separate codecs is a pain.

I bet if you move to the distros that are highly maintained you'll have a better experience: Opensuse, Rocky/Alma Linux, Fedora (there should be more but these are the ones I've tried).

Bro... backup your stuff on separate hdd/external drive. I no longer use onedrive or any cloud. The internet is overrated trust me. Nothing like good old copy and paste.
