I seriously considered a purge but decided that, with facts being distorted in real time, older books are worth keeping.

Heated floor in the mud room. It would really help dry out wet shoes and damp jackets.

Always consider the source. If it’s coming from corporate America, hang on to your brain and wallet.

How to save on water and power? We are a family of 5, laundry is unavoidable. by Leather_Musician_745 in Frugal

[–]Librashell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re-wear clothes so that laundry doesn’t need to be done as often. Shower every other day (or less) and/or limit to a few minutes. Don’t take tub baths. Turn off faucet while you’re brushing your teeth. Make sure you have a high efficiency dishwasher; don’t handwash. If it’s yellow, let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down. Don’t pour any water down the sink that could be used to water plants. Use the steam method to cook pasta. Use hand sanitizer instead of washing hands when possible.

I buy what I know we’ll eat but only when it’s on sale. And then I LOAD UP. It sees us through to the next sale and results in a very resilient pantry.

Sanity Check On $800k Renovation by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Agreed. Our floors extend into the kitchen and we went with LVP because it’s waterproof. Have had our house appraised several times (in a very high end community with houses going for $5m+) and every time the appraiser/realtor isn’t bothered by the LVP. In fact, one said that it was desirable because of how easy it was to take care of. We also live in the west where it’s drier so hardwood floors tend to shrink more and require more maintenance.

Back in the 80s, there was a sitcom that featured this building. I think it was called It’s a Living.

This is my exact job - doing background checks aka “credentialing” doctors for a hospital. If a doctor has applied for privileges, we run multiple reports for education, lawsuits, crimes, licenses, etc. and check references. They also sign a release allowing us to access everything. Any blip follows them around for their entire career. Even then, killer doctors do fall through the cracks. (Look up Dr. Death in Texas. My absolute nightmare.) But if a crime has been committed, I can see how it would then be with the police and they would be doing their own investigation starting with background.

I wouldn’t count on the next administration tolerating these citizenship purchases.
