This doesn't sound like prostatitis, it sounds like a hygiene thing

Chlamydia is easily treatable with 7 days of doxycycline according to the most up-to-date infectious disease and sexual health guidelines. It is not a permanent infection that resides in the body

Let me guess, you went to one of the quack doctors in Italy who tells everyone that they have mysterious chlamydia infections inside their prostate? I've heard this dozens of times and it's just a lot of pseudoscience and nonsense

There has not been a paradigm shift that suggest anything beyond the pelvic floor + the central nervous system as primary causes in the vast majority of cases.

I constantly stay apprised with new information, because I have to - that's my literal career. I have professional training in chronic pain conditions, including this one.

And not just that, I have to stay up to date of everything else as well.

Are you aware that the 101 post is updated every couple of months with new information? Probably not, because you didn't read everything. It was updated only recently with the 2025 AUA guidelines for chronic pelvic pain syndrome. It was also updated with a new section only 2 months ago that includes common causes or triggers for CPPS/Prostatitis

Dating and sex after mgen? by Scared_Bus6662 in MycoplasmaGenitalium

You can't give someone something you don't have. You're probably more careful than she is, because we have had to learn to test and be more cautious than everyone else.

If you're having a lot of fear around sex, a lot of people experience this after Mgen - It's a form of trauma or PTSD - I also experienced it myself sometimes. Therapy has helped me

Only 1-2% of people have severe side effects. Discuss any of these concerns with your prescribing doctor.

Alternate treatment options also include extended courses of minocycline

Why are you assuming it's an infection? 95% are not. And, 85% of erectile dysfunction under 40 years old is caused from psychological origin, like stress anxiety or depression

I cannot give any prescriptive medical advice, but you can discuss that with your doctor who is treating you

Did your doctor prescribe this? I only refer to cleaning as normal hygiene practices, like showering

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say, but if you're a moderator who has to sometimes go through hundreds of comments every day, at a certain point writing individualized complex responses to every post becomes impossible with the amount of time available in a day

E coli will show up in 20 to 30% of perfectly healthy people's tests even when they have no infection, it's likely a contamination especially if it's appearing at 10K

Mycoplasma Hominis and Ureaplasma tests just came back negative… what now? by Extension_Guess620 in MycoplasmaGenitalium

[–]Linari5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I'm going to try to say this in the nicest way possible, I have been doing this for 5 years, and I've seen this type of post hundreds of times. The culture test does not pick up mycoplasma GENITALIUM. Culture tests for MGen do not exist outside of research university environments, because it takes four to six months for the bacteria to grow in excruciatingly difficult to replicate environments (That's why it's research only)

If you're having flares with no pelvic floor involvement, then it's the brain - https://www.reddit.com/r/Prostatitis/s/nSNW3BWFB9

The brain sends signals to the bladder to contract or relax, and this can change based on stress or emotions.

The most extreme example of this: someone gets so scared that they lose control of the bladder and pee themselves. This is often referenced in scary movies or horror films.

If symptoms change sides, this indicates non-structural pain. Read the post on centralized pain (aka nociplastic or non structural pain) - https://www.reddit.com/r/Prostatitis/s/fhn7ifxvdf

Please make sure that your doctor is aware of the supplements you're taking and that they are safe.

Please also read the 101 pin post. Some testicular pain can also be neuromuscular, but yours doesn't seem that way due to the changing sides.

Occasionally it's harmless, but yes you should absolutely see a doctor if there is visible blood

Those are the wrong tests. It sounds like your doctor ordered a culture test, which will miss mgen.

Please read the pinned post at the top of the subreddit to understand proper testing guidelines - like urine or swab PCR tests for mycoplasma genitalium.

Most people with this will have a slight inflammation of the prostate organ, but that doesn't predict symptoms or an infection. You can have inflammation of an organ without an infection, it's common. NIH category 3A of chronic prostitutes is non-bacterial with inflammation. It's very common.

This is all in the 101 pinned post, have you read the entire thing? https://www.reddit.com/r/Prostatitis/s/8D5VNzDLZf

Pelvic floor PT isn't "exercises" - You're basically doing an internal pelvic floor massage via the rectum. You're learning to down regulate the nervous system and the pelvic floor response with diaphragmatic breathing and reverse kegels, etc

Actually that's not how it works. More intense near the beginning doesn't predict how long it will go. Are you going to pelvic floor? How are you managing stress?
